A very fine vintage English pottery drainer dish for strawberries

with its original stand by John Steventon of Burslem,

Staffordshire. Moulded with relief star flowers and with petal

shape rims, both pieces are beautifully painted with pink and soft

greens on a blush glaze. The dish stands on three curl scroll

feet. The firm was first established in 1897 and pottery was

produced until the mid 1930's, usually quoted as ending in 1936.

Some books though have stated an earlier date of 1934. It is

believed that the name of 'Royal Venton' came about following a

purchase by a member of the Royalty at an Ideal Home's

exhibition. Fully marked to base and signed by the artist designer

Von Phillips. Hand painted pattern no A192M in black close to

foot rim of stand. A very attractive set which makes a wonderful

display piece. Size: Stand 8.25" (21cm) diameter. Drainer dish

2.5" (6.5cm) high x 8.25" (21cm) diameter. Condition: Very good.

There is no damage.
