OverviewNanto Group operates mainly in 2 businesses:

- the additive chemical business, managed by Nanto Cleantech SpA, an innovation-oriented company holding the know-how, patents and technologies to realize next-generation of advanced materials (anticorrosion, flame/fire retardant, anti stick etc.) for the coating and polymers industries;

- the protective coating business, through the subsidiary Nanto Protective Coating Srl, with the brand Nanto Paint® under which our engineered cost-effective coatings are industrialized and commercialized worldwide.

Nanto Paint® provides a wide range of industrial innovative smart coatings and functional coatings based on nanomaterials, currently focused on anticorrosion and fire retardant developed since 2005 with research and technology transfer activities carried out in collaboration with a cross functional team of international experts, with consolidated and attested skills in chemistry, engineering, physic, economy and technology transfer process.

The destination markets range cover the traditional coatings market to the new Green and Cleantech markets thanks to its outstanding product portfolio.

Our protective coatings, thanks to the application of advanced materials, provide superior protection against corrosion in the harshest and most challenging environments. Nanto Paint® provides a complete series of products studied for the best steel corrosion protection, C5 M-High certified, abrasion resistance and aesthetic properties.

The NPC 9000 series offers a complete protection against corrosion for the internal and the external storage tanks surfaces. From the shell up to the roof, from epoxy primer and intermediate up to polyurethane topcoat, our solutions satisfy every type of needs. Especially when it comes to the internal lining, Nanto Paint® offers a wide range products studied for every kind of liquid and gas.

The NPC 10000 series is the final high reliable solution for the pipelines. The advanced coating formulation guarantees a superlative corrosion inhibition, both for external and internal. Depending on the transported liquid, Nanto Paint® provides multiples products, from the potable water up to the crude oil, suitable also for all the kind of piping network and accessories.

Nanto Paint® provides fire retardant coatings specifically formulated to extend fire retardancy through a combination of oxygen blockage and absorption of the generated heat. This products are already patented and ready for the market,

Still in the R&D step but with an excellent prospect are the so-called anti-stick coatings. Special functionalization of the nanoparticles improves the repulsion performance between the coating film and other various materials that can be water, grease, oil or another paint indeed. This kind of coatings suit multiple applications like anti-ice (for exemples on cables and distribution tower in energy distribution) or anti-graffiti for railway wagons.

There are also ongoing projects on reduced friction coatings, to be applied on the hull in marine sector, with both purpose like particular antifouling and reduction of fuel consumption.

Fire RetardantNanto Paint® provides heat resistant coatings specifically formulated to extend fire retardancy through a combination of oxygen blockage and absorption of the generated heat. The new nano-enhanced formulations allow a reduction in the amount of conventional fire retardant chemicals as phosphates, brominated chemicals, amino-phosphate and antimony. The current fire retardant products contain high % of potentially harmful and expensive compounds while Nanto Paint® ‘s nanotechnology-based approach reduces the amount of fire retardants, decreasing the cost and maintaining coatings’ fire resistance.Nanto Paint® also offers a series of nanotechnology-based protective coatings having simultaneously both anti-corrosion and fire retardant properties. Thus, the resulting nano-reinforced composite coatings comprehensively suit the preventative maintenance needs required in the Marine sector, Oil&Gas, Infrastructure and Heavy manufacturing.

NPC S01 Steel One component solvent based intumescent coating,Suitable for both interior and exterior use, offers an extended fire protection – up to 30% more than traditional products - to the steel substrates.

NPC S02 Steel Two component epoxy intumescent coating. Suitable for steel, aluminum, concrete and plastic materials, it offers an excellent fire protection combined with a high resistance to abrasion and chemicals.

NPC W01 Wood Single component water-borne intumescent coating. Offers a combination of excellent intumescence, Class 1 surface spread of flame and low smoke emission.

NPC W02 Wood Mono component water-borne colorless intumescent coating. It offers an high performance intumescent protection to wood substrates.

NPC W02TC Wood One component water based fire retardant colorless top coat, it combines very good aesthetic with very high intumescent performances in combination with NPC W02. Suitable to be applied on doors, panels, floors and other interior structures.

Nanto Paint® ‘s patented nanoparticles formulation has been extensively tested at national and International research and industrial facilities according to ISO and ASTM standards.

Specifically one nano-enhanced high solid epoxy PRIMER and nano-enhanced high solid epoxy INTERMEDIATE have been formulated and tested (nano-enhanced: containing minimum amounts of nanoparticles); these products were tested in coating systems having both polyurethane and acrylic topcoats.

Nov 2009 - Nanto Paint® won the international competition "Nanochallenge 2009", which brought 300K€ as seed capital from Veneto Nanotech. The winner was selected among 36 international teams.

May 2010 - Nanto Paint® won the north east Italy prize “Talento delle Idee”, organised by Unicredit Bank and the young entrepreneur of Confindustria – The Italian Industrial Federation, among more than 60 projects and companies.

Nov 2010 - Nanto Paint® was selected among 10 most promising success stories in the Italy-Israel technology transfer.

Mar 2012 - Nanto Paint® won the award organized by NACE International, MP Reader’s Choice Corrosion Innovation prize as "Best Material Innovation of the year 2012". NACE is the biggest International Organization focused on corrosion, that represents 25000 members worldwide. The project technology was selected among 64 technologies presented by 17 countries worldwide.

Jun 2014 - The disruptive technology that underlines Nanto Paint® ‘s success was recognised, after a selection over 600 companies, as one of the "Top Three Finalists WPC Excellence Awards" for its "Dispruptive Cleantech Technologies for Cost-Effective industrial application" by the World Petroleum Council - the leading organisation representing more than the 95% of the Oil&Gas companies.

Description: The Client required a cable reel to be used on offshore facilities. Therefore a high reliable paint cycle was needed, Nanto Paint® provided a C5 M-High system suitable for high corrosive environments. As a normal procedure the company gave technical assistance up to the final completion of the project. The excellent result lead to the approval of the system by the customer and Nanto Paint® was approved as official supplier.
