Creating Universe in Universe Design Tool

1.Getting started with Universe Design ToolStart > All Programs > SAP Business Intelligence > SAP BusinessObjects BI plateform 4 Client ToolsClick on Universe Design Tool





Enter your username and password.





This opens the Universe Design Tool.

It provides you with Quick Design Wizard. Click on Cancel to create a Universe without using wizard.

2. Creating Universe Click on File > New









Define Universe Parameters

Define the Universe Parameters. Select the Connection you want and click on OK.

Inserting Tables

Right click on the universe pane to get the options. Click on Tables

You get the Table Browser, select the tables.





Click on Insert once you select the tables.

Creating Joins





Select the id from one table and with same id on other table.

Save the Universe

Give the file name , you can select the destination for your universe.Click on Save.

Export Universe

To export your universe, select File > Export.





select an folder to save the universe.

Browse to get the desired domain for your universe.





Click on oK.

Click OK.Your Universe has been created.





3. Creating a Combined UniverseCreate Multiple Universe

Lets create One more universe .Click on the file > New

Lets select the same connection as in previous Universe.The previous Universe is about SALESThis current Universe is about PROMOTIONS.

Inserting Tables

Right click on the universe pane to get the options. Click on Tables

You get the Table Browser; select the tables related to Promotions.





Click on Insert once you select the tables.





Create Joins

Save the Universe

Select the folder and file name.





Export Universe



Click on OK.





4. Combining Multiple Universes

Go to the Previous Universe related to SalesClick on Parameters.





Add Link to Other Universe

Click on Add Link.

Select the 2nd Universe you have created. Promotions Universe.Click on Open.





You have both the Universes combined to one. See Below

Create new joins , delete the undesired links.Rearrange the Tables as per your Business Model.

Export Universe







Browse to get the desired domain for your universe.

Click on OK





A Universe using Two Universes has been created.
