Our Missionto make running social
runens
Principles
*focus vs. features: top design and intuitive interface to let you do what you like most – run with easy access to relevant info;
*inspire and be inspired: sharing information with peers who are out there now. Motivation as core;
*challenge: a true runner is motivated by challenges and accomplishments. Be it faster, further or more frequently;
*charity is core: the app (free to download) will convert part of its revenues to international charity institutions. Communities as change agents.
download it, three steps
and you’re running
TAPTAP
Selecting The Objective
• first thing you do is pick your main objective: 5k, 10k, half-marathon, marathon, ultra-marathon or free-style. It can be changed later in your profile;
• color-coded objectives become your badge; the “pulsing cloud” in the center will have your objective’s color
• access to privacy policy and terms of use
Training selection
you can run with the following goals:• time• distance• distance AND time
coming up:• pace (different visualization)• time AND pace• distance AND pace• “challenges” (patent pending)
Circular touch and selection
• tap “distance” and move the knob to choose a total distance for your run. It can be less than, more than or equal to your objective;
• move the knob one full circle around the dial if you want to run a distance equal to your objective. To run a distance smaller or larger than the objective choose a fraction of full circle or go around the dial multiple times.
• click the “pulsing cloud” on the center to confirm;
• tapping the little “x” cancels the selection process.
The training screenOnce the distance is confirmed, the app goes to the running mode where it expands to larger numbers, delivers higher contrast and shows a completion “band” depending on your goal.
If you set distance AND time, the colored band shows the relative position of you and a virtual competitor:• blue band – you are on target• blue band with white head –
computer is ahead • white band with blue head – you
are ahead

You can use it in
any orientation
Paused exercise
• if you hit the center of the circle when the app is in the running mode (previous slide), it will go to the pause mode;
• From the pause mode screen you can (1) stop the exercise and go to the results page by clicking the “stop button”, or (2) resume the exercise by tapping the center.
ResultsHitting “stop” sends you to the results page where you see:• how much of your goal you
completed;• how many points you earned; • if you got any medals. There are
different types of medals – some are given for reaching distance milestones, others for meeting very specific conditions (e.g., “ice runner”). Some medals will be a surprise.
• a summary of your run
Also, you can:• send an e-mail with the results• update facebook / twitter
Access to Features
There are four icons in the corners:
• top right corner: GPS signal
• bottom right corner: settings
• bottom left corner: my hood.
• top left corner: my features.
My Hood: motivation center
• before you run: see what’s going on around you and get motivation to go outside
• as you run, you can see your course on the map and the markers for each mile or km as in any of the current running apps;
• you can see dots representing other people running in real time. The colors of the dots represent their objectives. E.g., a red dot is a 10k runner; you have access to weather conditions at one tap.
Settings page
• minimalistic approach
• open channel to get feedback from users
My Features
Provides access to all of the runens extra features:
• profile: edit your profile• hood clash: leaderboard of hoods• medals: lists all the medals you
earned or unlocked• leaderboard: compares you with
people around you who have the same objective
• running log: see previous results
• much more to come!
runens 2.0becomes a
business here!
My Features: Medals
• displays the types and numbers of the medals you earned or unlocked;
• distance medals are earned every time you run that distance and give you extra points;
• there are hidden medals, e.g. the “ice runner” which gets unlocked only if within a month you run at least 3 times (minimum of 5k in total) in very cold temperatures (32F or below). They give you more extra points than the distance ones.
My Features: Leaderboard • given your hood and all the
runners inside it with the same objective as yours, you can see your position in the rank of most engaged runners;
• points are calculated using a collection of rules, but basically the more you run the more points you accumulate. If you stop running you start to lose points as weeks go by.
My Features: Hood Clash • runners inside a hood are
accumulating points as they run;
• a points-based score for each hood is calculated; it measures the level of engagement of the hood’s runners;
• the Hood Clash is a Hood Leaderboard showing the most active hoods.
And much more to come
and to make running social!
Why is runens betterthan any other running
app?• It is the only truly social, hyper-local, platform
• Provides a virtual window into your neighborhood to boost motivation: you can see others running in real-time and have insight into their objectives without leaving your home
• Includes a gaming element that is conceptually related to running performance and commitment
• Allows you to measure yourself against other runners who are pursuing the same goals so that you can gauge your performance and commitment with real data
• Builds local communities that can compete with each other, opening an avenue for philanthropic actions
• Offers businesses an opportunity to interact with a very targeted audience and/or demographic
