For our first ancillary product, we created a billboard poster that would be used for advertising our soap.
We took inspiration for our poster from existing posters of current melodramas.

Choosing E4
I chose E4 as it has a younger audience than something like the BBC and due to this viewers are bound to be younger and are more likely to relate to our storylines.
I used the logo guide on the channel 4 website to match the brand realistically to my soap.

Audience & Representation
•Our primary audience is young adults ranging from 14 to around 25.
•My trailer includes technology such as iPhones and things that have come from that. Such as people taking ‘nudes’ ... Everyone knows someone that has bullied due to it in this day and age.
•Includes realistic stress for the age group, teen pregnancies, drug issues, friendship and domestic issues.
•Some of the audience will still be in education and will be able to relate to the ‘petty’ drama on the show, other storylines are more major yet a lot of people will still be able to relate.
•Other people will be older and will have part time/full time jobs, there is more than petty drama in the melodrama as the more adult storylines show themes such as domestic abuse and alcoholism.
For our second ancillary, I made a soap website which contains all of my coursework but is disguised as a promotional website for the soap LEAVERS.

Character Profiles
During my research on making a website I saw that each website had a tab linking to ‘character profiles.’ Character profiles give you more of an insight as to what the character is like, viewers may like this feature especially as the soap is new. The main characters are included and this works effectively because the major storyline is “Ruby’s breakdown” and here you can learn more about Ruby.
