• Current functionality ‒ The current behavior tightly integrates the CM with the I/O

channel block. Most operations on the CM affect the I/O

channel.

• New functionality ‒ A new I/O development has evaluated these issues and other

limitations associated with project engineering of CM and I/O

‒ The existing method of configuring CMs and IOs will be

enhanced such that the CMs and IOs can be configured and

tested independently

‒ The enhanced method will remove the tight coupling between

CM and IO channel

• I/O Channel doesn’t ‘exist’ unless contained

by a CM ‒ can’t be configured, loaded, accessed

• Once channel blocks are contained by a CM ‒same block displayed under CM and I/O modules

‒Operations on CM affect the I/O channel blocks

CM load causes I/O channel to be inactivated – inputs

become NAN

CM delete from loaded causes I/O channel to become un-

configured – output go to unpowered

• Current functionality ‒ All modes are shown regardless if used

‒ You need to build custom faceplate and detail displays that had the

unwanted modes and mode attributes removed from combo boxes. Would

also need logic or other extra programming that would eliminate operator's

ability to make those changes from the CM chart

• New functionality ‒ Implement the equivalent of mode/mode attribute selection list (supported in

TPN release R630 via $MODESEL parameter) in Experion C200E/C300/ACE

points.

‒ This functionality shall be supported in the CEE Function blocks (RegCtl

blocks )

‒ Two Parameters ‘MODESEL’ and ‘FRCMODEATTR’ to be added to the Regctl

Blocks.

MODESEL shall list the Modes supported by the block along with PROGRAM Mode

Attribute.

MODESEL shall contain the configuration information on whether each Supported Mode is

to be allowed in the MODE list.

The FRCMODEATTR parameter shall determine if the Human Stores to MODE should be

restricted, when the MODEATTR is configured as PROGRAM.

• Current functionality ‒ In TPS, alarms can be enabled or disabled for each individual

Unit either on a System wide scope or a Console scope

‒ EPKS currently offers alarm enable/disable for each

individual assets at a system wide level only: it does not offer

this functionality at a Console scope

• New functionality ‒ See following slide…

• Ability to force the system that outputs can not go below -3%

(3.52 mA)

• Current functionality ‒ Currently the range for analog outputs is from -6.9% to

106.9% and they traverse from -6.8% (2.912 mA) to 106.9%

(21.104 mA).

‒ When the OP is set to -6.9% the output current is set to zero.

For an analog channel on process there is no feature to

enforce a minimum output current

• New functionality ‒ A new configurable parameter OPFINALLO (for low limit) shall

be available in the individual Analog Output channel

‒ The OPFinal in all modes in the Analog output channel will be

clamped to the configured limit of OPFINALLO.

‒ The range shall typically be from -6.9%(channel supported

lowest OP) to 0%.

‒ This functionality shall be supported in all AO channels of

Series C, PMIO, Series 8, Series A IO types (in C200E, C300,

C300 (20ms) and the simulation version of these controllers).

‒ For Series C IO, Series 8 IO, PMIO - The changes will be in IOP

firmware.

‒ For Series A IO - The changes will be in C300/C200E Firmware

• Background

– There is a desire to have similar statistics available for the Experion OPC

Server as there are for the TPN Server via the System Management Auxiliary

display. The main purpose is for diagnostics, troubleshooting, and load

planning.

• Current functionality

– No auxiliary status display for Experion OPC Server

• New functionality

– The proposal is to provide access to per-client statistics for Experion OPC

Server via two new Experion Reports:

– Data Access Statistics Report that shall include statistics such as number of

read/write calls per second and number of parameters read/written per

second, over a period of time for each OPC client connected to Experion OPC

Server

– OPC Clients Summary Report that shall include summary level information

such as client name, host, number of groups, collection rates and number of

items, for each OPC client connected to Experion OPC Server

• Current functionality ‒ Existing “Replace Shapes” tool allows the user to replace

only one shape in a display, or across multiple displays.

Multiple shapes cannot be replaced across displays in one

go.

• New functionality ‒ The new replace shape tool will allow the user to nominate a

collection of shapes to be replaced at once. This tool will be

able to perform this shape replacement activity in bulk across

a directory of displays.

• Current functionality ‒ All items in the Experion System Status tree are available as

points that customers can use on custom displays to show

status, however building a custom status display involves

adding many shapes to the display and if a new item is added

(e.g. a new controller) the custom status displays need to be

manually updated.

• Current functionality ‒ Currently in Experion, the Alarm Summary Display does not

have a button to silence an alarm without acknowledging it.

The operator must perform one of the following actions to

silence the alarm:

From the Station drop down menu, select “Action” then “Silence”

Add a button to the Station toolbar that performs the silence command.

• New functionality ‒ Build on the alarm silence/suppression functionality added in

Experion R410

“Provide TPS Audible Functionality in Experion PKS (R1511 / #2432)”

• An operator can switch off annunciation of low and high priority alarms using

the native window display

• Audible suppression button/icons added to Experion Alarm Summary

Provide for an immediate silence only.

It is expected that the existing alarm silence/suppression buttons on the

alarm summary will be enhanced for this.

• Current functionality ‒ In CEE, all basic blocks within a CM are destroyed and

recreated whenever the CM is reloaded. Thus, regardless of

whether a CM and its basic blocks are loaded for the first

time, or are reloaded after already having been deployed,

dynamic state data within the blocks is initialized as a result

of the load.

‒ This behavior causes problems in certain situations. For

example, quoting from UIS input, we have the following.

“In Experion, during a download of a block, all outgoing signals are

reset, all timers are restarted and all SetRes information is lost. Loops

receiving data from the downloaded block have to be bypassed

manually. In P3 industry (paper machines and other applications) there

are complex interlocks among many loops and it is common that mill

engineers need to implement frequent application improvements

requiring on-line download.”

• Current functionality ‒ Alarm help for process alarms can currently be displayed in a

Station-based UI and is provided by integration with ACM.

There is no equivalent functionality currently for system

alarms.

• New functionality ‒ When selecting a system alarm on the system status display,

the documentation for that system alarm type will be

displayed in a UI consistent with the current alarm help tab on

the alarm summary. If the option to show system alarms on

the process alarm summary is enabled, the system alarm help

will also be viewable on the alarm summary’s Alarm Help tab.

‒ Standard system alarm help for a particular system alarm

type can by customized via a Configuration Studio tool. The

operator on your site will then see your customized help if

that type of system alarm is raised.

• Current functionality ‒ Generally in control builder, the cross block references are

displayed only for the output pins. The SP is shown as input

pin. However, it is a good idea to show where the points are

referred similar to the display, if any points are referred in

expressions.

• New functionality ‒ For connections using projected parameters (only), a

reference will also be shown on the destination end.

‒ Show the projected parameters used in Container and Control

Modules in cross reference panel

‒ Provide hyperlink to navigate to Control Module from cross

reference panel

• Background

– There are many times when DI points such as level switches, flow switches,

etc. will cause multiple alarms when first entering the offnormal condition

due to the nature of those types of devices. Currently, the only workaround

is to configure an alarm delay using logic and flag points.

• Current functionality

– Currently, DI points have a delay time parameter which is designed to

prevent chatter at the IOP. However, this delay time has no effect on the

initial state transition of the DI point, but rather on subsequent transitions

after the initial one

• New functionality

– Provide Change of state (CHNGOFST) Alarm support for blocks which

handles DI alarms. The COS alarm support will be implemented in FLAG and

DIGACQ blocks.

– Change of State (CHNGOFST) alarm is generated when the input changes

state in either direction after the configured “Delay Time”.

– Change of State alarms is removed from the Alarm Summary display following

acknowledgement. There is no Return-to-Normal for this alarm.

• Background

– Although there are OP limits configured in the HPM controllers when the

operator sets the controller in manual he can move the OP beyond the OP

limits introducing directly the number or moving the OP with the arrow keys.

There should be a parameter set by engineer that should allow or not that the

operator could move beyond limits or should maintain the OP in limits.

• Current functionality

– It is not possible to limit the OP in manual except if you use a subpicture but

it should imply the operator can not use changezone, detail

• New functionality

– Add two new user configurable parameters for all HPM Controller algorithms,

as applicable, to configure the operator low limit manual ($MOPLOLM) and

operator high limit manual ($MOPHILM).

Default values for these two new parameters are set same as that of the system limits

i.e., $MOPLOLM = -6.9 and $MOPHILM = 106.9

Parameter values can be modified when the PTEXECST is ACTIVE

OUTIND to have an impact similar to that on existing parameters OPLOLM and

• Background

• Current functionality

– In the system summaries, the current view can be selected for printing to a

file and then a format that is appropriate for Excel can be selected.

• New functionality

– A new CSV Export button will be added next to existing Print Preview and

Print buttons in the following system summary displays: Alarm, System

Status, Message, Alert, Event, SOE, Activity, Procedure, Batch

– When pressed, the system will generate a Microsoft Excel compatible CSV

file. This CSV file will include all records in the summary table at the time of

request. As such, all records in this file will have the same filters and SOR

applied as the summary table.

– The newly generated file will have summary type and time of requesting as

part of its name. It will be saved into the Report share folder of the primary

cluster server.

• Background

– For Experion over TPS, the station can have all assets assigned to it and then

the TPS area "narrows" the SOR for the station. The operator can then area

change to "swing" the station via Native Window. Problem is this does only

works for TPS, and not CDA.

– Experion itself should provide the ability to pre-define different "Profiles"

that an operator could then select from for a particular Station (depending on

security settings). This way an operator could select a “Profile” for

“Reaction” and then change to “Distillation” when necessary (without an

engineer). This would make it easy to "swing" a station from one part of the

plant to another. Currently for Experion, the operator does not have access

to change the assigned assets for a station to "swing" the station from one

profile to another, the engineer has to make these changes in asset

assignment.

– Ability to "swing" a station from one "area" to another would allow a set of

stations to be "split" between two "areas" and have a "swing" station in the

center that could be used for the "area" that needs the most help. For

example, five console stations could be split 2/3 between two areas and then

the middle station could swing between the two areas.

R440

Page 37: Putting User Input Subcommittee (UIS) Enhancements to Work in Your Plant

• Current functionality

– Currently in Experion, the engineer can define the asset assignment for each

station or operator, the Engineer can also pre-define Asset Profiles, which

are used for Operators’ Scope of Responsibility (SOR). However, operators at

Oper level access cannot change the asset assignment for a Station, either

via direct Asset assignment or preferably via Area like functionality (e.g.

choose from pre-defined SOR sets, i.e. Asset Profile). In TPS, the engineer

defines units (assets in Experion) and then defines the areas that contains

sets of units, depending on NCF/key lock settings Operators on the Native

Window can change the area associated with a US/GUS.

• New functionality

– The proposed solution would allow asset profiles to be assigned to Console

Station and Consoles as a standard configuration option.

– A new configuration setting would be provide that allowed the Engineer to

set the minimum security level at which an operator (whether using Operator

or Station profile based security) can select from the set of pre-defined asset

profiles

• Background

– The current license solution is inflexible as it is based on individual servers.

Assets that are allocated to a particular server sometimes need to be moved

to another server. Customers cannot accomplish this themselves and they

need to request new licenses from Honeywell for all the affected servers. The

new licenses then need to be re-installed. This process is time consuming for

both Honeywell and the customer, and adds risk since if the newly generated

licenses are wrong, a customer can temporarily lose functionality.

• Current functionality

– Licenses are applied directly to individual servers.

• Status • After extensive analysis Honeywell concluded that the disruptive impact to the internal

Honeywell backoffice systems associated with licensing was beyond the scope of this

item

• VOC has demonstrated other issues with licensing, including

– difficulty in comparing new licenses to old,

– ease of making a mistake

– disruption caused when applying licenses that require reboots

– lack of any system wide license inventory.

– The proposal is being re-scoped to address these concerns – Will be presented to UIS for their consideration

• Background

– Currently, there is no option to return a TPS point to "NORMAL" mode via an

Experion Faceplate. The ability exists for a CDA point. The TPS faceplate

should have the same ability

• Current functionality

– This functionality will be provided as applicable, i.e. when there is a NORMAL

mode option (NMODE) configured.

– In that case, the option “NORMAL” will be provided and, upon selection, the

MODE will be written as per the NMODE value

• Background – This item was clarified by UIS focals in breakout session October 2014. Revised

description below.

• Current functionality – When an Experion node is taken offline for software update installation or regular reboot

cycles, a large number of system alarms are generated and annunciated to all System

Status Displays across all DSA connected servers related to the node being taken

offline. These alarms cannot be disabled, inhibited or hidden.

• New functionality – Computers listed in the System Status Display (added via Configuration Studio) will have

a new faceplate option to enable ‘maintenance mode’ for that computer. Once enabled,

system alarms (from Experion, System Management and FTE Devices) related to that

computer will be suppressed on all Stations across DSA. Such suppressed alarms will

be hidden on the default System Status Display and not sound the audible, but will be

available on another view and will be recorded in the event journal. Server wide settings

will be provided to nominate:

– Whether pre-existing system alarms for the computer will be suppressed when

maintenance mode is enabled

– A global timeout for un-suppressing such system alarms in the event that the engineer

forgot to disable maintenance mode (default 15min perhaps). If the timeout occurs, an

alarm indicating maintenance mode is still on will become visible and all active system

alarms related to the computer will be un-suppressed.

• Current functionality

– Status points can be configured to go into alarm when the PV reaches a

particular state. If alarming is enabled on an individual state, then the priority

of the alarm can also be configured. This is shown in the Alarms tab on the

status point form in Quick Builder.

• New functionality

– UIS items #3988 and #3989 are being grouped together in this mini spec

document because the same simple approach may be used to solve both.

– Under this proposal, a new configuration option will be added to status

points. This new configuration option will govern whether or not events are

raised on a PV change.

– Under this proposal, a new configuration option will be added to status

points. This new configuration option will govern whether or not change of

state events are raised for the point, and it will have possible values of

enabled or disabled. If state change events are enabled, then a CHANGE

event will be journaled whenever the PV changes. If PV change events are

disabled, then CHANGE events will not be raised when the PV changes. An

example of how this would be made available on the Alarms tab in Quick

Builder is shown below

• Background

– The alarms of interest are detected by vendor provided applications such as

Dell Open Manage for Dell platforms, HP SMH for HP

• Current functionality

– Currently these alarms are recorded in the Application Event Log but never

make it to the Experion operator

• New functionality

– The proposed solution would escalate critical PC related alerts to the

Experion System Alarm Display and the attention of the site operators

– For Example:

– Chassis Intrusion, Chassis Intrusion, HDD Degraded, HDD Failure, etc

– The deliverables for this item:

– SES Configuration Files

– An installation package

– Product and Performance Impact Testing

– Documentation

– Applies to Dell and HP platforms only

• Background

– Behavior of CHNGOFST alarm in HPM:

– Change of State (CHNGOFST) alarm is generated when the input changes

state in either direction.

– Change of State alarms is removed from the Alarm Summary display following

acknowledgement. There is no Return-to-Normal for this alarm.

• Current functionality

– Experion DevCtl and Flag block both support OffNormal alarm currently, but

OffNormal alarm works differently compare to CHNGOFST alarm.

– OffNormal alarms are reported when the state of a DevCtl/Flag block changes

from the state that is defined as Normal State to other state(s), and the alarm

return to normal when the state changes back to the Normal State.

• New functionality

– Provide State Change (CHNGOFST) alarming functionality in Experion DevCtl

and Flag blocks same as CHNGOFST alarm in HPM:

– Change of State (CHNGOFST) alarm is generated when the input changes

state in either direction.

– Change of State alarms is removed from the Alarm Summary display following

acknowledgement. There is no Return-to-Normal for this alarm.

– A configurable “Delay Time” may be needed. The alarm is not generated until

the timer expires (Confirm with the customer if this is needed).

– Notice that the same functionality will not be added to Logic blocks, since

they are not alarming blocks currently

• Background

• Current functionality

– Currently, when an alarm is selected to be shelved, the alarm shelving dialog

box provides an option of specifying how long the alarm should remain on

the shelf in terms of duration (e.g. 1 day, 1 week, 2 weeks)

– In addition, the maximum length an alarm can be shelved is limited to three

(3) weeks

• New functionality

– A new option will be added to the alarm shelving dialog box so that the time

an alarm is on the shelf can be specified in terms of an end date (rather than

a time period)

– The alarm shelving dialog will be enhanced so that operators will have the

ability to input an end date to unshelve an alarm (as opposed to a time

period). This will be a new option, existing functionality to specify shelf

length will still be supported

• Background

– Initial request from customer was to either allow an SCM to be Bulk Edited

similar to a CM or introduce a “traditional” Find/Replace function

• Current functionality

– There is already a Search Bar where the search for matches in block names

and descriptions is available including support for Search Next and Previous.

– However, the search will not locate a match in a detail box if the detail box

was hidden and it will not locate the match in expressions, if the ‘show

descriptions’ option was selected

• New functionality

– Need to extend the search functionality to include searching for matches in

both descriptions and expressions and automatically open the Details panels

in the dedicated Details Panel at the bottom of the chart and select and

highlight places where a match is detected.

– Add a Replace text box and button to the Search Bar to allow user to specify

string to be searched for and replaced when Replace button is clicked.

– Provide some filtering options to select search scope, e.g. Search in Names,

in Descriptions, in expressions. These could be offered as checkboxes which

may need to be disabled/hidden when not applicable, e.g. expressions do not

apply in CMs.

– Need to consider easy clearing of filters and persistency of settings.

– Need to consider possibility that Warning, Note and Instructions parameters

may be added to the search scope in the future. Design should already be

flexible to handle these with no or minimum modification if/when introduced.

– Also need to consider refactoring the existing Search Bar to upgrade it to be

WPF-based and integrated closer to the new WPF chart. Optional but would

be nice to take the opportunity to clean the overall chart and associated

panels design. Estimates do not include this item.

• Background

– Since inception of Checkpoint in R210, there have been times where users

have performed checkpoint restores only to find that the checkpoint file is

not usable for restore or only partially usable. To find this out at the time of

restore is not acceptable

• Current functionality

• New functionality

– The existing CRC-32 checking code on checkpoint files will be retained.

There will be no change to incorporate MD5 hashing code

– Checkpoint Validation tool will be launched on demand only

– Ability to launch this tool from a Windows command prompt or thru the

Checkpoint Restore Display by adding a “Validation” button

– May be run against individual .cp files

– If CRC-32 was replaced with MD5, then this Checkpoint Validation Tool could

only be incorporated into a release where server migration was done to that

release. This is because the former checkpoints (even though still

compatible with monitor) would not be usable for restore.

• Background

– At present data transfer rate is one of the key diagnostics available between

DSA servers. Need to provide second level of diagnostics on the Distributed

servers display so that customers can troubleshoot and solve the issue

much quickly at site

• Current functionality

– The DSA Status Display shows overall statistics for a DSA connection from

the subscriber’s perspective. It shows load but does not give insight into the

reason for most DSA disconnections.

– Display Callup Diagnostics, added in Experion R400, can trace operations

(and problems) with individual display callups from Station to the relevant

data sources within the console station or within the server. Information is

presented in simple summary log messages that can be easily isolated from

those unrelated to the problem display callup. However, issues related to

DSA data cannot be traced to the publisher for further analysis.

• New functionality

– Enhance the Display Callup Diagnostics functionality introduced in Experion

R400 to allow diagnosis of slow or failed operations that travel over DSA.

This will allow easier correlation between slow/failed DSA on the subscribing

server and the conditions that lead to this on the publishing server

• Current functionality

– Search thru array points; call up details of the array points to find their IOPs

• New functionality

– Provide SI IOPs with the equivalent of the Slot Summary display that is

provided for other types of IOPs.

– This summary would show all array points that are using the SI IOP, and the

display would be segregated by FTA--i.e., one list for any array points built

• Background

– Honeywell provides Experion PKS faceplates and detail displays for all TPS

points, thus affording the same quick, easy and standardized access to

typical TPS parameters on Experion Station as in Honeywell’s legacy

systems including GUS and Native Window

• Current functionality

– The Experion TPS faceplates do not provide the override selector indicators

as do GUS classic faceplates and the Native Window detail display.

– When the control algorithm (CTALGID) for a given point is value ORSEL, the

Honeywell Experion TPS faceplate for that point should indicate the

associated override selector graphically for the operator to see. This

functionality is in accordance with existing GUS classic faceplates and the

Native Window (faceplate section of NW detail displays)

• New functionality

– The Experion TPS faceplates need to be updated to provide override selector

indicators directly on the applicable faceplates

• Background

• Current functionality

– VFD's are becoming the preferred final control element (vs. control valves). It

would be beneficial to be able to click on a pump and to be able to start/stop

and perform PID functions from one faceplate.

– Today, the VFD pump shape calls up a DevCtl face plate and the operator has

to click on a separate shape to call up the PID faceplate

• New functionality

– Create a new faceplate that can be linked to a DevCtlA and a PIDA block in

separate control modules also the faceplate should have the functionality to

start and stop the assigned control loop

• Background

– On inactivation of a primary to an override selector in HPM, the override

selector holds the last good value in its X1, X2, etc input on

inactivation/reload of a primary. If this was the selected input, it should

remain the selected input until another primary moves consistent with being

selected.

– A similar scenario can be caused in Experion by reloading the primary.

• Current functionality

– On inactivation of a primary to an override selector, the X1, X2 input

associated with the inactivated primary goes to NaN and the selector toggles

to the other input

• New functionality

– Modify the override selector block so that it holds the last good value in its

X1, X2, etc input on inactivation/reload of a primary. If this is the selected

value it should remain selected until another input moves to where it

becomes selected.

– This would prevent plant shutdowns if a primary is reloaded without putting

the override selector in MAN. While it is our practice to put the override

selector in MAN, this is a risk on Experion that we are not exposed to today in

our HPM systems

• Background

– A server can communicate with 24 redundant Cxxx controllers and 100 FIMs

but the amount of traffic is not directly specified. Insight into network traffic

can allow an engineer to better balance loads and optimize performance

• Current functionality

– There is currently no way of determining network performance & traffic

between the various components of the Experion control platform.

– There are various specifications and limits specified for components within

the Experion network, for example

– 40 parameter reads per second on a Fieldbus link,

– or 1500 dynamic parameters per second for a Station PC, but there is no way

of determining actual levels.

• New functionality

– Where performance information is not available for the Experion control

platform (Servers, Stations, FTEB, CNI, Controllers, FIM, SIM, PBIM & PBGM)

communication counters would be added as parameters to the system

components.

– A new report would be added to the Experion server enabling a user to report
