OSUM Affiliate and the Appreciation Program

Benefits of Joining the OSUM Affiliate Program

An OSUM Affiliate Group can receive support from Sun Microsystems.

Sun will provide materials via Monthly Activity Kits (which can include but not limited: data sheet, media kit, and or promotional items).

Additionally, as part of the OSUM Affiliate Program, every OSUM Affiliate Group's School Name can be added to the School drop down menu.

OSUM Affiliate Leader

The OSUM Affiliate leader is usually but not always, the creator of the OSUM Group. The OSUM leader is always the person who register's his or her OSUM Group with the OSUM Affiliate Program.

The OSUM Affiliate leader is the only one authorized to do the following: Order Activity Kits from the OSUM Online Catalog

Request that his/her school name be added to the School drop down menu

Join the OSUM Club Leaders group

OSUM Leader Kit

The OSUM leader will also receive support from Sun via the OSUM Leader Kit.

The OSUM Leader Kit includes: Certificate of Recognition as OSUM Leader

Authorization Letter from OSUM Management to School Administrators

Contact Cards (50-100 cards)

Welcome Letter (copy of email)

OSUM Leader Handbook (pdf copy)

The second major change we did with the catalog isWe've organized the materials into Activity Kits. This is to encourage everyone to move leaders into action and do monthly OSUM Club meetings.For Example: For July, you can do a club meeting and the topic will be SAIFor August, you can do a club meeting and the topic will be Glassfish

We have 18 activity kits or 18 topics that we would like you to try to learn and share your knowledge of these topics to your OSUM group members through on-going monthly club meetings.

Promotional Items: We will try to have at least a different promotional item per kit but it depends on inventory. Promotional items can include: pens, lapel pins, decal/stickers, key chains, etc.

We would like to help you plan for your monthly club activity that is why we have added the Event checklist and information guide.

The Event Checklist is just that a checklist of things you should do to help prepare you for your club activity.

We want to know more about your OSUM Group.We added a field where you can provide a URL of your OSUM Group page.We also want to know how many members you have in your OSUM Group that's the OSUM membership number.

The quantity of your items will be dependent on the number of members of your OSUM Group.So if you have 15 members, you will receive 25 quantities of materials in your kit.If you have 150 members, you will receive 150 quantities of materials in your kit.

If you will be having a big event so that you can increase your member number, please provide this extra information on the Comments Box.

It is important for us to see that the number of members of your OSUM Group increase every time you place an order.The purpose of this tool is help you GROW and ACTIVATE your OSUM Group.

What happens after you place an order? Approval and Verification Process

Step 1: Verification of information

OSUM Affiliate Team will verify the following information: Your Role

Your OSUM Group URL

Your OSUM Group Membership

Your Previous Activity Blog and Photos and attendance

Step 2: Approval

OSUM Affiliate Team will only Approve your Order IF: You are authorized OSUM Affiliate Leader, Campus Ambassador, Community Manager/Coordinator

All the information you provided are true and correct

Otherwise, we will send an email asking for more information before we CANCEL the order.

Step 3: Email Confirmation

System will send End-User Email regarding Approval or Cancellation of ORDER.

Step 4: Shipped Notification Email

System will send End-User Email when the order has been shipped. Fed Ex tracking number will be provided on this email.

Plan ahead!Get a calendar and start picking dates of when you would like to have an OSUM Club meeting per month.Perhaps, you want to have a club meeting every 3rd Friday of the Month.Recruit members to conduct Future Tech DemosThere are talking points and slides available in all the activity kit topics. All these resources are found in the OSUM Community.We encourage collaborative work and team work so you, as the leader do not have to do it all by yourself. You can share the task of presenting information with other members of your OSUM group.

Promotional Items use them wisely. Use them to promote attendance to your club meetings

A strategy that has been successful in other parts of the world is the on the spot registration to the OSUM and OSUM Group. At the club meetings, try to have laptops so that you can have people register right after the meeting.
