Production of college magazine front cover

• First I opened photo shop and clicked new and changed the preset to international paper and the size to A4.

• Then I opened my cover photo and selected all then clicked edit, copy and reopened my cover page and clicked edit, paste.

• I used the pen tool to delete the background around my models head/hair.

• I added my mast head by using the text tool. • I changed the font and colours. • By using the characters panel I changed the spacing of the text and moved the letters closer to

each other.

• I used the text tool to add ‘life’ the second part of my magazine name. • I made this text italic• Again I used the character panel to change the text.

• I added the issue information next.• I used the text tool to do this.

• I went onto google and saved an image of a barcode that would be seen on a magazine cover• I opened the image on photoshop then selected all, edit and clicked copy.• Then I opened my magazine cover page and clicked edit then paste.• I resized the barcode image and placed it in the bottom left corner as planned.

• I used the text tool to add my cover lines to my cover. • I changed the font and size to make it appropriate and placed it in the positions I had planned.• In my front cover plans on my blog I didn’t state what colour my cover line text would be and so

I used the colours from my mast head and the models shirt. I used the colour picker to make it the same colour.

• The text couldn’t be read easily and so I decided to add shapes behind so it could be easily read.

• I used the rectangle tool to create the shapes to position behind the text. • I changed the opacity so the shapes weren’t as prominent.

• I added the main cover line and to make it stand out I added an outer glow which was white. • This wasn’t on my plans because when planning the cover I didn’t consider that it wouldn’t

show up very well.

• Lastly I added a puff. • I used the ellipse tool and created the shape. • I used the colour picker tool to ensure it was the same colour as the other shapes.• I added a drop shadow and outer glow. • I used the text tool to add text to the puff.
