The most environmentally friendly car in the world

Rolls Royce with 8 cylinder 63/4 litre engine

Less than half of all the food grown in the world is actually eaten!

This means that more than half of all the food crops grown is available as an organic resource (the inedible leaves, stalks, skins, roots and peelings).

Normally these organic materials are regarded as wastes and they are thrown away to rot, or put into landfills, where they give off methane gas.

Capturing this methane gas (biomethane) and preventing it from escaping into the atmosphere to become a greenhouse gas some twenty one times worse than carbon dioxide, and using it as a renewable fuel, is actually improving the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Other ‘alternative’ or ‘renewable’ liquid biofuels such as biodiesel or bioethanol are simply ‘less bad’ for the environment than are fossil fuels, whereas using biomethane as a fuel is doing ‘good’ for the environment.

More environmentally friendly than its makers could ever have envisaged, this Rolls Royce, fuelled with biomethane, is contributing to reducing the greenhouse gas position in the environment and is giving a whole new meaning to the expression “climate change”.

This car is using a fuel which is better for the environment than any of the other forms of energy. Better than solar, wind, tidal or wave power, biodiesel or bioethanol, or even hydrogen, let alone nuclear.

Biomethane is clean burning (the lowest CO2 of any hydrocarbon fuel for the same energy), has low emissions (NOx and PM10 or PM5 particulates), and with an octane rating of 135 is both more powerful and more economical than fossil fuel petrol or diesel. It is also safer in an accident.
