Conversion of noise into
Electrical Energy
By: Chintan Shah
Noise Level in current world
• Noise means any sound energy that has random amplitude and frequency and which creates disturbance in the ecosystem thereby causing pollution
• Noise consists of superpositioning of mechanical waves. Their direction of propagation is in all direction and travels with 330 to 345 m/s velocity
• Today due to road trafficking and airplanes there is formidable amount of noise production
• Noise pollution contributes about 3% in the total global warming every year.
• It creates a cacophony and leads to brain stress, mental trauma and may also result in permanent hearing loss (deafness)
Conversion of noise into electrical form
• Noise is nothing but a kind of sound. A sound made of mechanical waves. This waves when incident on any surface create pressure
• The sound pressure depends upon intensity of noise and distance from the source.
• Sound pressure generates sound power given by
Pac= ξ2 ∗ ω2*Z*A= I* A ( I= power intensity, A= Area of surface)
• This sound power when incident to a transducer can convert noise into electrical power

Top researchers
• At present, students of Florida university are working on the transducer
• Research firm “Yanko Design” of Japan has completed the modeling and are testing their product for environmental usage
• Team of Scientists working under the project of green noise to electricity:1) Jihoon Kim2) Boyeon Kim3) Myung-suk Kim4) Da-Woon Chung
• The list of teams under this idea is populating…
Applications
Battery charging circuits for street lights
Auxiliary powergenerating sources for
airports and aero drams
Auxiliary power generating sources for factories dealing with great amount of noise everyday
