INTRODUCTION Touch screens are just now becoming the popular thing but the idea of actually having to touch a screen is already becoming outdated because of the Leap Motion Controller.

When it comes to computers, there’s a lot of touching involved where we have to put our hands on the keyboard, the mouse, even the screen to accomplish anything, but this is a new tech toy entering the neighborhood that makes the air in front of us the control panel

WORKINGIt uses two monochromatic IR cameras and three infrared LEDs.

The device observes area to a distance of about 1 meter.

The LEDs generate a 3D pattern of dots of IR light.

Cameras generate almost 300 frames per second of reflected data, which is then sent through a USB cable to the host computer.

It is analyzed by the Leap Motion controller software using "complex math“ algorithm.

APPLICATIONS1.PLAY

Use your hands to move in any direction, with precision. Dive into realistic, 3D interaction at its best. Steer, slice, grab, push, pull, crush, and shoot with your hands and finger.

When we learn about the world through 3D motion-control, life really comes alive. Fly through 3D cities in Google Earth. Zoom around the planets in Solar Walk, take apart a skull in Cyber Science

FUTURE SCOPE

1.MEDICINE

Replace super computers

Enable to move remote cameras without touching them

Page 19: motion controller

2.HOUSEHOLD Help you turn on and off lights, open and close the blinds, control your

TV and all other electronic devices without actually touching anything.

Useful for disabled people who cannot move very well, or in buildings

where contamination is a real danger.

3.ENTERTAINMENT

The Leap could help control your character in an AR game that happens

around you.

Controlling radio devices (e.g. cars, planes, boats) without the need of

physical controls can give you more accuracy and freedom.

4. 3D MODELLING AND GRAPHICS

It is the only device that gives full control of a 3D object on all three axes.

Architects and designers can really benefit from this by getting the freedom they have always wanted when it comes to 3D modelling and 3D graphics.

They can turn, scale and fully transform objects without having to use a physical 2D controller (e.g. mouse, keyboard, track pad), thus saving precious time and allowing more creativity.
