Introduction to the project

Mobile Age – Co-created personalised mobile access to public services for senior citizens

OUR CONCEPT: is based on the co-creation methodological approach and will develop mobile open government services that are created together with senior citizens.

WHAT: Mobile Age works on digital mobile applications, based on open data, helping senior citizens access public services in their community in an easier, more personalised and efficient way.

HOW: Such mobile applications will be tested in four pilot sites in Europe namely UK, Germany, Spain and Greece.

South Lakeland, United Kingdom

The use case held in South Lakeland will focus on exploring how tablet computers will allow senior citizens to access supportive public services (social security, day-to-day activities, government services, etc.) based on openly available data through “MyLakeland” - a new personalized mobile application - and thus maintain their independent living.

Bremen, Germany

The Bremen use case aims to support and collect information and services related to health, social security, day-to-say activities, etc. that interest senior citizens through the “MyOpenBremen” mobile public service.

The use case held in Bremen will focus on social inclusion and active participation of senior citizens in social life as long as possible.

Zaragoza, Spain

The use case held in Zaragoza will focus on the development of a mobile application that will help senior citizens and people facing mobility problems detect existing deficiencies in routes and neighborhoods and will ensure improvements in terms of accessibility, equipment and safety.

Region of Central Macedonia, Greece

Senior citizens in RCM will use the “MyOpenMacedonia” mobile application in order to schedule doctors’ appointments and order prescriptions online through an automated process, as well as receive personalised alerts on micro particle pollution.

The use case the Region of Central Macedonia (RCM) will focus on public services necessary to senior citizens to access their personal health information.

Innovations offered to the users

> TECHNICAL INNOVATION: The project will produce digital applications to be used and scaled-up in

local authorities throughout Europe. To do so, it will make sure that its technical innovative platform, the Open Senior Citizen Public Service Engagement Platform (OSCPSEP) used to build the applications will be re-used in other contexts and by other public authorities.

> PROCESS INNOVATION: Mobile Age will compile a Best Practice Guide for Co-Creation of Open

Public Services and publish policy briefings targeting European, national, regional and local public authorities.

> Moreover, the project will publish a framework for impact assessment

and evaluation for co-creation approaches in the field of open public services for older persons.
