Problems that micro-organisms can cause after a natural disaster and what
solutions have been developed to overcome these
problems.
Introduction Micro-organisms are tiny living things that cannot be seen with the naked eye, it can be seen using a microscope. There are different types of micro-organisms such as bacteria, viruses, algae, fungi and protozoa. Natural disasters are not caused by men but is caused by our natural environment. Our environment is our surrounding nature of plants and trees of all types and sizes.
What happens to micro-organisms after a natural disaster?
After natural disasters like hurricane, floods, tsunami, tornadoes and earthquakes causes diseases. These diseases are caused by micro-organisms. People who were injured during a natural disaster should have a medical evaluation to determine what additional care may be required for wounds potentially contaminated with soil, or saliva, or that have been exposed to fresh or sea water that could be contaminated with parasites or bacteria.
Effects natural disasters causeIt mostly effects everyone and everything within it’s range. Sometime it also takes effect around the world because of people leaving the country with a disease after a natural disaster. Natural disaster are not the only thing that effects the world, there is also disasters that are caused by humans themselves, it is called a man made disaster. A man made disaster can also be global warming.
What Sicknesses Are Caused
The sickness that can be caused can be ranged from fever to gastro. Some countries need vaccinations to prevent sickness from spreading. Sickness can be spread by any contact made with other people. The micro-organism that causes these sickness/illness is mainly caused by viruses.
Australia’s common natural disaster
The most common natural disaster in Australia are floods. Floods are caused by heavy rain that causes oceans, seas and lakes to overflow. When it overflows it starts to come to shore and eventually floods the place. Sometimes the flood is not too bad and only floods a little.
Prevention
Micro-organisms are helpful and unhelpful but in this case it is unhelpful because it causes disease. Avoid making any contact with other people to prevent passing micro-organisms. Making contact to spread is as simple as coughing or sneezing in a persons face Wash your hands when you touch something dirty, after using the toilet, touching something that many other people have touched and before and after eating.
Vaccination
When you get an injection to put some type of liquid in your body to prevent any sort of sickness in your body is called vaccinations. Sometimes in some countries everyone has to get a vaccination after a natural disaster to prevent illness. They also need to check if they already caught a disease. This is done to protect other citizen to catch the disease.
