• Matter is everything around us: all living and non-living things are made of matter.• Matter can be in three states:
MATTER AND MATERIALS
SOLIDS: they have their own shape.
LIQUIDS: they take the shape of the container
GASES: they also take the shape of the container
PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL CHANGES
The objects changes but the matter is the same
The object changes and a different matter is formed
When the object changes:
-Place -Shape-State-Temperature
When the object:
-Rots-Rusts-Ferments-Burns
HETEROGENEOUS MIXTURE: You can see the different components Other examples: sand and water; muesli.
HOMOGENEOUS MIXTURE:
You can see only one component
Other examples: milk and Cola-Cao; carrot puree.
MATERIALS
Are found in nature Are made by man with natural materials
Vegetable origin: come from plants
EXAMPLE: -Wood-Cotton
Animal origin: come from animals
EXAMPLE:-Leather-Wool
Mineral origin: come from rocks and minerals
EXAMPLE:-Graphite-Granite
