The Consumer Logic

Today there are more people with a mobile phone than a bank

account. In fact, over 2.5 billion people lack fundamental financial

services, compared to 2.6 billion prepaid subscribers. This pres-

ents an ideal target market for mobile wallet offerings and a mas-

sive mobile commerce opportunity for operators.

Operators are in the unique position to offer mobile wallet solutions

using their existing consumer contact, agent networks and experi-

ence of managing large amounts of transactions. A mobile wallet

solution can also provide opportunities to bundle payment services

into existing offerings, which can increase customer stickiness and

loyalty.
