John C. LillyLogan Schreiber
• Birth date: January 6th 1915• Death date: September 30th 2001• Field of exploration: oceanography-
dolphin marine science• Country: United states of America• Education: -California institute of
technology –University of Pennsylvania –Geisel school of medicine
Communication of Dolphins -he studied in Los Angeles
-separated dolphins into different tanks and connecting a ‘telephone’
- discovered two places on each side of the blowhole are used to communicate
Kevin Carroll John C. Lilly
they both study the biology of dolphins and how they work
(Kevin studies how they can swim and John studies how they communicate)
Similarities Differences-He forms scientific theories -He works in other fields-he has a degree (physics and -Had books and movies biology)
published on his work- he was an
inventor
After studying dolphin’s mimicking patterns he was the first to look into the process of how dolphin’s communicate. John C. Lilly impacted other explorers by leaving an investigation behind for others to finish solving and finding an exploration in another.
After solving the mystery behind dolphin communication it could lead to another unknown to be investigated. Example: when john researched dolphin’s mimicking patterns he found where they produce their sounds which lead him to how they understand each other.
For his research John invented ‘telephone tanks’ which where used to transport the sounds from one dolphin to another.
The other fields John studied in were-nature of consciousness-isolation tanks-psychedelic drugs
During his study john found out where their sounds come from, that the same sounds are not repeated, that they are quite polite when speaking to another (not speaking at the same time) and that the sounds can not be morphed out of a certain range
How have explorers from history impacted modern day explorers and how will those
modern day discoveries impact your future?
1. Previous discoveries have lead to new mysteries that new explorers are discovering today.
2. It impacts me because the study of dolphins has always interested me and when I get a job one of the things I want to be is a marine biologist
