Positive Aspects• Access emails from anywhere with signal.

• Access any web page.• Get any information on the internet in seconds.

• Many different applications that allow the user to do many different things.

• Able to communicate with anybody, where ever, when ever and how the user wants.

• Access all social networks in seconds.• The user can get their social life or professional life sorted out

in seconds.

Negative Aspects• Vey addictive, this will make the user on his phone for half an

hour, when doing a 5 minute task.• Disrupts sleep patterns, because users will make up if they

hear their message tone at night, or they will be busy on their phone for hours when they get into bed.

• Users rely on it too much and when there is no signal they can’t use their smart phone.

Productivity

ConclusionYes, smart phones do distract their users but all

in all it is a valuable addition to a persons pocket that will increase productivity.

Communication in the work place• Smart phones play a big role in communication in the work place,

there are just so many different ways to communicate on a smart phone.

• Phone calls• SMS• Email

• Blackberry Messenger (BBM)• Whats App

• There are many other communication Applications you can get on the smart phones “application world”

• So no matter where you are you can easily get hold of a colleague.

Companies give workers free smart phones.• This is not an incentive but it is so they can work more often

and its easier for the employees to communicate with one another

Social engagement

• As mentioned in the previous slides, there are many different ways to communicate with a smart phone. • With a smart phone it is easy to connect to Facebook, Twitter, blogs and the free messenger

services that come with the phone.• It is easy to connect with your friends and speak to

them to make plans.• Its very easy to communicate with a smart phone,

keeping you connected 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

• More people are starting to buy smart phones because of how cheap it is to communicate with

friends.• BLACKBERRY: R59 a monthBlackberry messenger (BBM)

Free internet• Iphone and Nokia you can chat on Whats app and

Mxit, as long as you have got airtime in your account. You just pay for the internet usage which is

a very low cost.

Effect on education

Positive effects on education • In class you can get information easily to finish

a task or assignment.• If you miss a day at school, you can ask class

mates what you missed, from the comfort of your bed.

• Talk to group members about you project.

Negative effects on education • Students will not be able to listen in class if they

are on their phone.• Students get distracted while doing homework if

they get a message.• Students would rather talk on their phone than

do their homework• There is just so much on a smartphone it is easy

to get distracted for half a hour, while doing work.

• Production – increases production.• Communication in the work place –

with friends.• Effects on education – it has a negative effect

on students.• All in all smartphones have a positive effect on
