Introduction

In this lab report, you’re going to see the lab report of the experiment “How fast does it move?”, and also all the steps of a lab report, what we do in the lab and how to do the lab.

Page 5: Lab report

My definition: I think that motion is the movement of something from one place to another.

Copy definition: When an object location is constantly changing.

WHAT IS MOTION?

Page 6: Lab report

WHAT IS FORCE?

My definition: I think that force is when you apply movement to an object by using any type of force, gravity’magnetic, electric, chemical, air, etc, normally human force.

Copy definition: To push or pull.

TITLE:HOW FAST DOES IT

MOVE?

Page 8: Lab report

Statement of the problem:1. How long does it will take a

marble to roll down a sloping path?2. Does the height of the slope affect

the marble’s motion? How? write a prediction.

Page 9: Lab report

Hypothesis1. How long does it will take a marble to roll down a sloping

path? Possible Answer/ I think that the marble is going to take one

second or less to go down the slope. But in reality to achieve how long will it take a marble to roll down I need to do the experiment, and to find the speed I divide distance by time.

2. Does the height of the slope affect the marble’s motion? How? write a prediction.

Possible Answer/ Yes, the height of the slope affect the marble’s motion, because depending on the height, the marble will go faster or slower, because the more inclined, gravity exerts more force on the marble, so it goes faster.

Materials: Four booksCardboard tube 22 centimeters PVC tube 46.5 centimeters PVC tube 150 centimeters

Page 11: Lab report

PROCEDURE:1. Stack three books on top of each other. Then put

another book at the end of the tube, place one end of the cardboard tube on the top of the stack.

2. Roll a marble down the tube. Start the stopwatch at the same moment. When you hear the marble hit the book record the time. Repeat these step 3 times

3. Repeat step 2 with the PVC tube of 46.5 centimeters and with the PVC tube of 150 centimeters. Then repeat step 2 with the three tubes with two books stacked. Then repeat with only one book.

Conclusions:In which setup the motion was fastest?

Cardboard tube 22 cm: In the first setup, with the three books the motion was fastest.

PVC tube 46.5 cm: In the first setup, with the three books the motion was fastest.

PVC tube 150 cm: In the first setup, with the three books the motion was fastest.

Did your results match your prediction?Yes, my results match my prediction because the hypothesis I write was exactly what happen in the experiment.

Why was it important to repeat each test three times? It was important to repeat each test three times because it is necessary to check if the data is correct.

Would your results change if you used a longer tube? Yes, the results will change if we have a longer tube. The time of the marble to go down the tube, will be more.

What if we have a higher stack of books? If we have a higher stack of books the marble will take less time to get down. The speed will increase, the marble will roll faster.

Conclusions:In which setup the motion was fastest?

Cardboard tube 22 cm: In the last, with one book the motion was fastest.

PVC tube 46.5 cm: In the first setup, with the three books the motion was fastest.

PVC tube 150 cm: In the first setup, with the three books the motion was fastest.
