Do not like to wait in queues for a long time. Especially the ones suffering from agmenophobia switch their queues.


Agmenophobia: The fear that the queue you join will be slower than the other one. (Lihoreau, Tim. Modern Phobias: A Litany of Contemporary Fears. Bloomsbury Publishing UK, 2006.)



Ensure that the balance money is accurate.




Expect assistance to be around when needed, and not to look out for them, leaving their items at the machine.




Have user-friendly machines such that customer can himself remove doubly scanned items without any assistance required. This will also speed up the purchase.


Need assistance after scanning a few items (Remove items from the bill when doubly scanned)

UNMET NEEDS/ DESIRESETHNOGRAPHIC RESEARCH


When the store is crowded and there are not many assistants to provide services leads to frustration in the customers and traffic at the check-out counters.



Wifi link shopping basket with the product selection linked to the trolley such that the while selecting items the basket can start preparing the bill. Thus at the checkout counter only the bill will have to be paid and no scanning will be required. This will speed up the process.


Legal age, alcohol laws. Cannot proceed without the ID check.




Have smarter machines, which can scan your ID and your face to cross check if the right person is using the ID. Thus, no need for assistance.
