Deployment Costs Utilizing an Application Packaging Strategy

Pre-deployment costsare high because resources are invested in the program integration andpreparation process.

Costs begin to drop near deploymenttime because the installation processis well known and portions of it are automated.

Post-rollout costs are low. Because theprogram was successfully integrated before deployment, support issues tend to be few and problems easy to fix.

The Dwyer Group, a recognized and award-winning example of excellence in franchise management, supporting hundreds of small business owners nationwide—provides the hundreds of units with business tools and processes, marketing support and branding across a diverse set of service industries. Good communication of brand message and methodologies have been a cornerstone of their success.

The Dwyer Group provided proprietary software for franchise management; it utilizes the QuickBooks SDK and a local copy of QuickBooks for accounting functionality. The software is used by multiple users at each franchise, writing to common files; QuickBooks SDK interfaces with these files providing Accounting with the data to perform reporting and billing functions.

Despite this, The Dwyer Group was awash in software compatibility issues largely a result of versioning. Thus, their goal of a robust, common technology platform capable of delivering continued improvements to franchisees had remained beyond their grasp, for lack of the right business partner.

Uni-Data recognized operating across a wide array of computer models of varying ages and processing power was one the hampering factor, so removing the data and it’s manipulation to a robust platform was key to success.

Uni-Data designed a solution that allowed each franchiseediscreet, private and secure access to their franchise datavia a Remote Desktop account located in our SAS70 datacenters.

“When I was looking for a technology solutions provider to assist us in the standardization of our Franchise Management systems across The Dwyer Group brands, I turned to Uni-Data. They worked with us to develop a Hosted Virtualized Desktop model that allows us to deliver a secure, high-availability, and robust version of Z-Ware, the Dwyer Group’s proprietary Franchise management application software and accounting package. “The platform Uni-Data developed for us allows continual software updates across all of our brands and franchise units, without requiring much more than a good internet connection at the franchise location.

“Uni-Data’s depth of experience providing enterprise-level Information Technology nationwide meant that they were able to help us manage third party vendors, while providing remote monitoring and remediation of connection and hardware problems at the franchise level. We’re very pleased with having selected Uni-Data as our Technology Partner— the response from the franchisees has been excellent.”
