The Innovation week’s background

The two geographic Areas targeted by the R2I call 2012 in the European

Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) countries are:

ü  Eastern Partnership: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Ukraine

ü  Mediterranean Partner: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco,

Palestinian-administered Areas, Syria, Tunisia.

The focus: one of the Horizon 2020 societal challenges

The R2I projects objectives

Ø  To strengthen cooperation between research and business actors in EU and ENP countries

Ø  To enhance the innovation capacity & innovation performance

Ø  To improve knowledge transfer and innovation support services through a comprehensive trans-national cooperation.

Ø  To overcome innovation barriers between R & I with effective knowledge transfer methods

Ø  To increase the potential of STI and to contribute to the definition of bi-regional programmes on innovation

Ø  To foster mutually beneficial public-private-partnerships through the market uptake of research results.

The R2I projects actions

ü  Setting up some thematic directories: stakeholders / research competences

ü  Development of roadmaps for advancement in the targeted societal challenges and R&I including policy recommendations

ü  Twinning activities among EU and EaP/NCP partners

ü  Networking activities: brokerages at local and international level

ü  Training activities: technology transfer, innovation issues, scientific themes

ü  Establishing innovation vouchers/ action for the implementation of innovations

ü  Organization of international events with scientific focus

ü  Clustering and networking among projects
