INCLUSIVE OUTREACH IN COMMUNITY EVENTS:How Women Who Code Wins

The Industry IssueTHE PROBLEM:1 Million Computer Science jobs will go unfilled.

THE REASON:By 2020, there will be 1.4 Million Computer Science jobs available in the US, but only 400,000 potential C.S. college grads.

THE RESULT:The Tech Industry won’t be able to continue at the pace it’s going. As all industries become more tech-oriented, this impact will be even further reaching.

The Social IssueTHE GAP:Women make up 59% of the US labor force and almost 51% of the population. Yet, only represent 30% of the overall tech industry.

WOMEN LEADERS WANTED:Those already in industry leave at a rate of 56%, higher than any other sector.

Why? Stats for women holding leadership and technical roles are dismal. This impacts the professional environment, business strategy, and ultimately, the bottom line.

Why WomenBETTER STRATEGY:The presence of women in a group is more likely to increase collective intelligence of the group.

BETTER BUSINESS:Companies with the highest representation of women leadership have seen a 34% higher ROI than those with few or no women.

BETTER EARNING POTENTIAL LEADS TO:Software developers have a projected future job growth of 23%, with a median income that is 42% more than the average salary across America.

BETTER COMMUNITIES: When women make more, they reinvest 90% of their income back into their families and communities, thus creating a virtuous cycle or multiplier effect for supporting women to earn more overall.
