What is a Photocatalyst?

The nucleus of a atom is surrounded by orbits where electrons are revolving around the nucleus. Electrons responsible for reactions are revolving in a band called valence band. There is a band outside the valence band referred to as the conduction band in Ti02. As it is a compound consisting of different atoms, the valence and conduction bands are complicated, but the principles involved are the same. When light energy is applied externally electrons in the valence band are excited and rise to the conduction band, positive holes are formed and left behind the rising electrons in the valence band. At this time the Ti02 coatings is photo excited. The resulting positive holes show sufficient oxidative power. As Ti02 is dissolved in water, water is oxidized by positive holes forming hydroxyl radicals ( 0H-)which has a strong oxidative power.

Photocatalyst is a material which is sensitive to light and makes a chemical reaction when light strikes it, for example: chlorophyll in green plants is a photocatalytic material creating a chemical reaction when exposed to light.

In the same way, as light hits the coated surface, two oxidation reactants, hydroxyl radicals(0H-) & super oxide anion (O2−) interface.

How does it work? The photocatalytic coating, which is applied in advance with a special sprayer system, is formed of a chemically stable and safe solution of water-soluble titanium dioxide (PH=7). It is developed using unique and patented technology.

The strength of the coating film is exerted by evaporation of water after coating, and the photocatalyst effect is maintained for a long time. 5 years guaranteed!
