iBeacon is apple trade mark product which is revolutionizing the advertisement experience. It is built such a way that when some one passes the device, they will get notified with push notification about offer. You can over ride their default code which can help showing offer images also, help in getting better offer and conversion.
iBeacon device is built over 4 major factors. Unique Id, min id, max id and proximity. Talking in development terms, you can add your code so that you your device will identify the beacon based on distance (proximity) automatically and then show the message/ advertisement/ image set in code.
iOS 7 and higher version can identify beacons, however, you need to set details to display for each beacon. There are multiple companies coming up with beacon production. The major ones are Estimoes, Footmark and Radius network.
