What Exactly Are The Facebook Page Changes?

Change is inevitable, even more so with Facebook. As much as we may dislike it, we need to easily adjust to the changes as they come in order to remain relevant to our online community.

This can be frustrating as it seems just when we learn the changes, new ones occur. Fortunately we are going to cover the changes that have been made most recently to Facebook Pages.

The latest change to Facebook Pages is what is known as the Timeline. Many profiles already have this look, with this similar change many users will over look the important smaller changes that are placed to enhance your relationships.

Lets break it down.

The most obvious change is the look of you page. The purpose is to have a timeline, literally that dates back to when your brand first joined Facebook.

This makes it easier for your community to be able to see what you have published in the past and gain a stronger perception of your brand.

At first the changes will feel overwhelming, since a lot of the front-end of your Facebook Page has changed.

This can make major changes that can help your business get lost in the shuffle.

What Has Changed on YOUR Facebook Page?

Welcome Page


One of the most noticeable changes is the disappearance of the “Welcome Page”.

Cover Photo


Instead of a “welcome page” a “cover photo” has now been added. This removes the disconnection of having separate areas, now the cover photo is where you can show your contact info, latest promotions or image of your dealership. The dimensions 851x315 pixels. Do NOT use this area for advertising, it is against Facebook’s Terms of Service.

Brand Avatar/Thumbnail


As you may have noticed, the dimensions to your pages avatar/thumbnail has changed, they are now 124x125 pixels but can go as wide as 180. No longer can you have long profile pictures, catering to these dimensions are important since it is the face of your company. Remember to click the dropdown to fix the thumbnail size to look professional.

Info and What Use to be “Tabs”


This has now been added to the top of your page for people to easily see it.

Edit/Remove Posts & Change DatesYou still have the ability to edit and or delete posts that you have on your page, even from years ago. You are now also able to tag the location and change the dates if needed.

The changes that have occurred to Facebook Pages is to increase your connection with your audience.

Majority of people still want to use e-mail as a resource to communicate, people want to see more about you than what you posted in a day. It is all about connecting, and Facebook has increased your chance of building a history with the public, potential customers and positioned areas so people can quickly and easily gain knowledge about you.

Facebook makes changes to suit audiences, to help businesses to be easily accessed with little to no hassle.

Pages are public, therefore people do not have to have a Facebook account to see what your brand is up to, and with Facebook’s SEO, you want to have a friendly, inviting and up-to-date page.

Just because your shared material is mostly seen within the newsfeeds on Facebook, does not make your page irrelevant, especially when it comes to search.

Change happens because it is necessary.

Facebook provided a preview nearly a month prior to its changes to Facebook Pages, they also provided an end date to the old layout. Use this opportunity to gain the upper hand.

Your page as the new timeline is more like a scrapbook, where people can see how you truly interact, how you handle your customers and how you share your knowledge, videos and photos about your Industry, and your brand.

Change is hard at first but it is not to fear turn the change into a positive one by revamping your look, your attitude and perhaps the way you service your community online. We can always do better.
