Engineer Profile- Bill Nye Before starring on television, Bill Nye studied Engineering at Cornell. After Obtaining a Bachelor of Science, Nye moved to Seattle to work for Boeing. At Boeing, Bill Nye developed training films and created a hydraulic pressure resonance suppressor “Quinke Tube” that is still used in the Boeing 747 today. In Seattle, Nye began to look into entertainment, eventually quitting his engineering job to be a comedy writer and performer on Seattle's comedy show “Almost Live”. Bill Nye made a number of award-winning shows, including his famous “Bill Nye the Science Guy” which won 18 Emmy's in 5 years. He also wrote 5 children's books. Nye worked extensively to set up the Earth Dial Project which helps people all over the world learn about geography, astronomy, and time-keeping. Bill now is the host of three running TV series, is Vice President of the Planetary Society (the world's largest space-interest group), is a frequent visiting professor at Cornell.

Engineer Profile- Karl Bendz Karl Bendz was a German engine designer and car engineer was is generally credited with inventing the first gasoline-powered automobile Karl and his wife Bertha Bendz started Mercedes-Benz Automobiles Karl Bendz was born in Mühlberg, Germany. His father, a locomotive engineer, died in a railway accident when Karl was 2. Depsite their poverty, Bendz's mother valued good education. He attended Grammar School, Poly-Technical University, and the University of Karlsruhe. After school, Benz found himself working for a bicycle repair company that also produced static gas engines. His life-long idea of a horseless carriage could now be pursued. Benz made an automobile with wire wheels, a four-stroke engine, and two chains that were attached to the rear axle. Because this was the first automobile to produce all its own power (no horse needed) Karl Benz was given the patent and regarded as inventor.
