A SPEECH BY THE GOVERNOR, DR KAYODE FAYEMI, AT THE OFFICIAL COMMISSIONING OF THE ODU’A ENTERPRISE

DEVELOPMENT CENTRE, IYIN ROAD, ADO-EKITI, ON SATURDAY, 15TH OCTOBER, 2011

PROTOCOLS

It gladdens my heart to be here today to commission the ODU’A

ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT CENTRE, a project executed by the

Odu’a Investment Company Limited in collaboration with the State

Government. We are indeed proud to be identified with this laudable

project which falls in line with our agenda for the rapid industrial

development of Ekiti State.

It is a thing of joy that life is being brought back to the premises of

the old Odu’a Textile Limited which was the first industrial outfit in the

whole of Ekiti land and hitherto the main source of employment to

Ekiti citizens.

It is important to inform all that the Odu’a Enterprise Development

Centre, as this complex is now known comprises Builders’ Mart, Skill

Acquisition Centre, Artisans’ Village and Industrial Park with great

potentials for economic rejuvenation.

I have been informed that the Builders’ Mart project will support the

State Government’s Urban Renewal Programme aimed at beautifying

the State while the EKITI- ODU’A Skill Acquisition

Centre jointly established by the Ekiti State Enterprise Development

Agency (EEDA), Ekiti State Agency for Job Creation and Employment

and Odu’a Investment Company Limited is geared towards

empowering our people and creating wealth for the populace. The

objective is to make at least 5,000 youths to be self employed in

various fields of endeavour in the course of time.

The Artisan’ Village and the Industrial Park which I learnt are in the

second phase of this project will be ready for allocation and

occupation within the next six months as the first set of graduands

from the Skill Acquisition Centre will commence operation from the

Park.

I make bold to say that the investment climate is right for full

utilization by genuine investors. I therefore wish to use this

opportunity to once again call on all investors to make Ekiti their first

place of choice. I wish to assure the Odu’a Investment Company

Limited that the State Government will continue to support in its

initiatives and the quest to promote economic activities in the State.

It is on this note that I wish to commission this DEVELOPMENT

CENTRE to the glory of God, the use of mankind and the overall

growth of Ekiti State.

Thank you and God bless.
