This staff development workshop is

designed to provide hands-on creation

and exploration of Google

Sites for increased communications

between faculty, parents, students,

and the community.

This workshop will qualify participants for one hour of high

quality professional development upon completion.

their Google site

Objective 3The learner will be able to individualize a Google

Site using design templates and editing features.

Name Your Site

• This is a website for your Program

• It is attached to your email

• It is customized to meet your style

• It is not designed to be passed on to your successor

• Avoid using My, The, or A as the first word

• Make it short and easy for students and parents to

remember

• The link on the district site may not use the name of

your site, but the link will still navigate visitors to it.

changes such as:

• View your site map

• Add files

• Change your templates

• Delete items

• Change the site name

Clicking the Edit page button activates

the editing menus and toolbar.

These are similar to most program

formatting tool bars.

Some of the first tools you may want to

start with:

• Image

• Link

• Calendar Side Note:

• If you are going to post student work or

images, make sure you have parental

permissions to publish their likeness and/or

name.

• Your building office has a list of photo

releases returned by students.

• Additional permission forms can be obtained

from your building office for new students.

The format menu and the editing toolbar

both give the user options on type effects.

• Heading types

• Character type (superscript, etc.)

• Alignment

• Bold, Italic, Underline

• Type size in pts.

• Numbered list

• Bullets

• Indents

• Clear Formatting

Tables can be used

for information but

also for organizing

elements on your

webpage.

Use them to place

photos or links in a

more appealing

location.
