This project is for the travel through time end of the year assessment. It will inform you of the first Americans and how

they cooperated and worked together to accomplish things that were much more difficult back then than it is now.

3 Tribes The three first American tribes we

studied this year are the Aztecs, Mound Builders, and the Cliff Dwellers.

2 Tribes That Left Behind Artifacts All first American tribes left behind an artifact of some sort,

but I am choosing two of the three first American tribes that left behind artifacts, the Aztecs and the Mound Builders. The Aztecs left behind a Fired-clay Mictlantecuhtli Statue. This statue was found in downtown Mexico City in 1994, archaeologists discovered a huge clay statue almost 6 feet tall.  The figure represented a form with much of its skin ripped off, with a liver hanging out. Some believe the worship of Mictlantecuhtli involved ritual cannibalism. The Mound Builders left behind an ancient hammer carved of wooly mammoth bone. The hammer was believed to have been used in the constructing of the houses and sometimes even in combat. Signs of these show streaks of blood and bits of human flesh on the ends of the sharp teeth on the end.

A Tribe Settling One other tribe was the cliff dwellers.

Their choice of settling was in the Mexican plateaus. They decided to live there because of the resources available to make tools, weapons, and equipment.

Which Tribe If I were to live in a first American

tribe, it would be the mound builders. The mound builders were peacemakers and did not bother many of the other tribes. The Aztec were very sacrificial to the Gods that they believed in. The cliff dwellers had struggles with food and shelter. So I would live with the mound builders.
