ABSTRACT : Energy crisis has become a major problem in 21st

century to meet the demand we have to increase the generation of electrical energy .

By using piezo materials we can generate electricity.

The word piezoelectricity is derived form the Greek word “piezo” or “piezein” which mean “to squeeze” or press.

INTRODUCTION :AIM : Introducing a piezoelectric energy sources device which converts mechanical energy into electrical energy.

Day To day increasing population and lessen of conventional sources.

We must depend on non conventional sources for power generation ,so go to generating power by piezo electric sources.

POWER GENERATION FROM WALKING FLOOR Energy from walking motion to be captured

piezo electric devices must be installed the floor in terminal buildings.

This energy from foot traffic this energy send back to power grid through invertors in order to convert DC to AC power.

In train station installed gate area it generates electricity from shoes striking a piezo electric pad under a floor tile .

This energy creates voltage that can be used to power lighting systems.

WHAT IS PIEZO ELECTRICITY . Piezo electricity is the appearance of

an electric potential (voltage) across the sides of the crystal when you subjected it to the mechanical stress (by applying pressure)

. Convesely , a mechanical deformation is produced when an electric field is applied

HISTORY OF PIEZOELECTRICITY

Pierre curie & jacques curie ,two French physicists who were also brothers, first discovered the piezoelectric effect in1880.

Pierre curie would later shared the noble prize with his wife Marie curie for their work on radiation

After, Lippmann made researchs on it And, finally in early of twentieth

century that practical devices began to appear

WORKING OF PIEZO ELECTRICITY Normally, the charges in a piezoelectric crystal are

exactly balanced, even if they're not symmetrically arranged.

The effects of the charges exactly cancel out, leaving no net charge on the crystal faces. (More specifically, the electric dipole moments—vector lines separating opposite charges—exactly cancel one another out.)

If you squeeze the crystal (massively exaggerated in this picture!), you force the charges out of balance.

Now the effects of the charges (their dipole moments) no longer cancel one another out and net positive and negative charges appear on opposite crystal faces. By squeezing the crystal, you've produced a voltage across its opposite faces—and that's piezoelectricity!

SOME PRACTICAL RESULTS OF PIEZO ELECTRICITY

APPLICATIONS Some piezoelectric crystals can produce enough

voltage to create a spark to ignition systems Piezoelectric crystals are used in electronic clocks

and watches to maintain the time and provide alarm noise

Generates an AC voltage when applied to mechanical stress

Electric cigarette lighter pressing the button causes a spring loaded hammer to hit a piezo electric crystal.

It produces high voltage current that flows across a spark gap thus heating and igniting the gas.

Now a days many types of gas burners have built in piezo based ignition systems

CONCLUSION In this era of increasing energy costs and

decreasing supplies of fossil fuels become vital high priority projects for modern society.

Renewable sources of energy sources of power such as fossil fuels.

It is most advanced green generation technology and is low cost and broad generation.
