Welcome to “Zero Effort” EDI

DiCentral understands the needs of small businesses. When implemented properly, EDI can provide

significant cost benefits and improvements in capabilities to businesses of any size. Deployed and

implemented poorly, however, EDI can become a strain on the business, often costing far more than its

resulting savings in reduction of paperwork.

As a small or mid-sized business, you are most likely looking at EDI for the first time - or are looking for

solution to improve your existing EDI performance. That’s where DiTranslator 8 comes in. Unlike other

EDI translators, DiTranslator provides you a powerful, reliable, easy-to-use tool that is focused on

automating EDI without the drawbacks and making EDI a truly “zero effort” experience.

This guide has been designed to help you get the best exposure to DiCentral DiTranslator 8 and its

automation capabilities. It is recommended that you read the entire document before starting your

evaluation. It may be helpful to print the document so you can refer to it during your testing.

Thank you for trying DiCentral DiTranslator 8.

Welcome to the DiCentral family, welcome to “Zero Effort” EDI.

1. System Requirements

1.1 Getting a License Key DiTranslator 8 uses an activation system requiring a valid license key to proceed. The license key is sent

to the mailbox that you provided in the Download form. If you do not see the email from your mailbox,

please check the Bulk folder or call (281) 480-1121 x3 and our support representative will be happy to

generate a new license key for you.

1.2 Before Installing DiTranslator 8 Before installing DiTranslator 8 on a new system or upgrading an existing DiTranslator installation,

please note the minimum system requirements below. Failure to follow the recommended system

requirements and installation guidelines will prevent our technical support team from providing

you with the necessary guidance should you experience difficulties.

This evaluation guide outlines basic requirements for installing DiTranslator 8 along with some steps

that are recommended to take for full utilizing power of DiTranslator 8. Be sure to read this entire guide

prior to beginning your evaluation.

DiCentral recommends the following minimum system configurations for DiTranslator:

Hardware

Intel Pentium/Celeron processor at 1GHz or compatible CPU

512 MB of RAM

At least 500 MB of available hard-disk space

A graphic card capable of 1024x768 display resolution or better

Internet Connection (Broadband is recommended)

CD-ROM or better

Support a communication adapter

Software 32 and 64 bit edition of Windows Vista/ 7/Server 2008

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or above

Microsoft Internet Explorer 7

Before installing your software

DO NO INTERRUPT OR TERMINATE THE INSTALLATION

Do not interrupt an ongoing installation by using the End Process command from the Windows Task

Manager. This may cause damage to your installation and require assistance from our technical support

team.

Long Path Names

Page 6: EDI Translator Evaluation Guide

If you install DiTranslator in local hard disk, you may encounter an error message like the one you see

below:

“Could not open source file C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\ networks\Async

Collection CD rom 10_12_2006\Async\COMMERCE\EDATA\ Commerce\Commerce.HL_(-1)”

This error is due to the unusually lengthy path created by the location of the installation folder. To

prevent this error from occurring, it is recommended that you store your installation folder on the root

(C:\) directory until you have finished the installation.

Anti-virus software

It is recommended that you temporarily disable any anti-virus software during installation to ensure that

all necessary files are copied and that the installation is performed as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Back up your data

While every effort is made to ensure that DiCentral customers can migrate from older versions of

DiTranslator to DiTranslator 8 in a seamless manner, it is strongly recommended that you backup your

existing DiTranslator system and data files prior to beginning any upgrade or installation of DiTranslator

8. Remember that once you upgrade your data structure to adapt DiTranslator 8, you will not be able to

downgrade to a previous version without first removing version 8 and performing a manual export of

your DiTranslator data and a subsequent import into your older version of DiTranslator.

If you are installing DiTranslator 8 for an evaluation or are interested in testing DiTranslator 8 prior to

using it in a production environment, it is highly recommended that you do so on a separate system and

upgrade your primary production environment only when you are ready to perform this migration.

2. Getting to Know DiTranslator 8 User Guide User Guide is helpful when you are using DiTranslator for the first time and need instruction on

performing a specific task. User Guide locates under the Help menu which locates at the top of your

application’s menu bar.

QuickStart Guide During installation process, a shortcut is placed on your desktop linking you to the QuickStart Guide. In

case you removed this shortcut, you will be able to find the QuickStart Guide in the DiTranslator

application directory. The QuickStart Guide will walk you through installation and basic setup and is an

excellent resource that helps you getting started and familiar with DiTranslator.

Professional Service DiCentral offers customized training sessions tailored specifically to your needs. Our professional

Note:

The View Pane will look different depending on the selected view.

The Properties pane displays critical information about the selected file in DiTranslator.

The Tasks and Files pane shows tasks and data files associated with a given network, Trading

Partner or transaction set.

The Detail Pane shows the contents of any selected file in DiTranslator.

Networks allow you to aggregate trading partners in common groups.

For example, you could have a network of trading partners associated to a specific VAN.

receive updates and services from DiCentral. Failure to pay maintenance to DiCentral's lockbox or

corporate headquarters within 60 days of the renewal date [which is each year's anniversary of the
