• Challenge / question

• A power station is looking for a heat exchanger that will exchange the

residual heat from the cooling water in the station with the water for the

district heating.

• The difference in temperature between both water circuits is extremely

small.

• This makes it difficult to transfer the heat and design the heat exchanger.

• Who would be able to provide the correct heat exchanger?

• Our solution

• We choose extremely long shell and tube heat exchangers that are more than

twenty meters in length.

• Despite the small difference in temperature between both water circuits, this

enables us to establish an excellent exchange of heat.

• The installation and assembly of these extremely long heat exchangers requires a

little more thought but by applying special assembly and hoist techniques, we are

able to install the heat exchangers which are now performing as required.

• Meanwhile, we have provided several district heating projects in Utrecht and

Amsterdam with such heat exchangers.
