Before Creating Your Account What is the purpose or function of this
account?1. Personal use2. Professional use3. Share links with others4. Collect resources for a shared project5. Feed to a web site (with what target audience?)6. Something else?
Remember! You can have more than one account.
Creating an Account, Part 1: Register - Enter Details
Creating a Personal Account If you want this to be private
choose an account name or username that is not like your name in real life
The FULL NAME section may be left blank or filled in with a permutation of the username.
Use a different password than your Kerberos password.
Create or use a personal email address to use as the contact for the account (gmail, yahoo, hotmail, comcast, etc.)
Creating a Professional Account
You want people to be able to find you, so choose a username that is like your real name
Fill in the FULL NAMEsection with your real name
Use a new password, not the one used for your professional accounts
(In a later step, you may link the username to your web page)
Use your professional email address as the contact for the account
Creating a Group or Project Account
Is the group or project public or private?
Follow the guidelines for personal accounts if private, for professional accounts if public, except …
… create a group email account as the contact for the account
Creating Your Account Remember to check the
email account for a message from del.icio.us to complete the activation of your account.
Notice the use of a captcha* as an anti-spam device. This means deli.icio.us is not accessible to persons with some visual disabilities.
