SUSTAINABLE ENERGIES IN OUR FRENCH VILLAGE
AND IN FRANCE
OUR VILLAGE AND SUS TAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
In Lardy there are many activities : the feast of ecology, a
creativity competition, a science exhibition and debates on sciences and sustainable development.
At the science exhibition, last year there were musical instruments made with recycled products. Clara and Ulysse saw this exhibition.
This feast is every year and this year it was about energies. There was a poster of windmills on the front cover of the leaflet.
In Lardy some people think about sustainable energies, ecology and solidarity.
They made posters to ask people what they would like :
– a track to ride their bike– bio food, vegetables …– some flats for people who haven't got much money
ENERGY FROM RIVERS
In our village there is a river. It name's the Juine but we can't build a dam on it because it is very small.
This is our river. People fish in it but we can't eat the fishs because it's polluted.
In France there are 2100 dams. There is a dam in Corsica (Bavele), Nathan knows there is a dam because he was there on holidays.
This is the dam he saw in Corsica.
ENERGY FROM WASTES
In our secondary school there is a composter container. We put potatoes or other vegetables and fruits peelings, salad, egg shells inside.
We also recycle pens, cartridges, batteries and paper.
There are three bins to recycle waste next to the supermarket.
This is a rubbish dump. It next to the train station. They don't burn the wastes there.
To reduce our waste we've got good habits :
– we take reusable bags.
– some people have a « no junk mail » sicker on their letter box.
Ulysse's family made one and he's going to propose the class to make one too!
ENERGY FROM THE SUN
There are a lot of solar panel on the roofs in Lardy. We can see them from our school.
It's Nathan's house.
Panels are expensive but they produce electricity and they make money from them because they have too much energy and they sell it to the electricity company.
Rebecca and Théa's families think they are going to install some.
Other information about enegy
A way to save itThis is an economical bulb.
We all have some in at home. When we switch on, there is a little light after the light is bigger.
About nuclear energy
There isn't a nuclear power plant in Essonne (our department or area but there are some in France.
It is a nuclear power plants in France.
