Chapter 14.4Sine Graphs & Periodic Functions
Periodic FunctionAny function that has a repeating cycle
The length of each cycle is called the period
What is the length of the period of y = sin(x)? Notice the first cycle starts at 0, but where does it end?
The amplitude is one half the difference between the maximum and minimum value(the "height" of the top half)
What is the amplitude of y = sin(x)?

Altering the sine graphy = a sin(bx c) + d
Each of these variables will effect the "sine wave"in some way. Some move the graph, some willstretch/shrink the graph.
a b c d
The period of y = sin(bx) is 3600
b
Find the period of y = sin(3x)
Find the period of y = sin(.5x)

Describe what the graphs SHOULD look like
y = 3 sin(2x 60) + 1(include period, amplitude, position)
y = 2 sin(.5x + 30) 2
