DESCRIPTION

Enterprise Mobility is not a new concept, but these days it is having a disruptive impact on many organizations. Many IT departments feel unable to respond effectively due to the influx of new devices and the growing internal demand for app development. When trying to deal with these challenges, the result is often the sacrifice of long-term effectiveness to meet short-term goals. Now is the time to actively create a roadmap to guide your organization's mobility efforts, especially if Gartner's predictions prove accurate- that within 2 to 3 years, 40% of the workforce will be mobile and 70% of customers will interact with you via mobile device.

Why Act Now? 2

Consider:

1 Gartner, 2011. 2 McKinsey and Company, 2012. 3 Osterman Research, 2012. 4 Kelton Research, 2011.

70% of customer interactions will originate from a mobile device within 2 years.1

77% of CIOs plan to allow personal devices to access data and apps.2

Almost 60% believe BYOD is a problem.3

Only 24% and 21% of personal smartphones and tablets can be wiped.3

90% of CIOs expect to deploy mobile apps in the next 12 months.4

44% of companies have no mobile device strategy.3

What’s Our Scope… Where Do We Start?

Which area of the business should be the focus?

What is the business transformation opportunity with mobility?

Can we leverage mobility as a

differentiator?

How can we leverage mobility to better interact with customers, distributors, employees and resellers?

What type of devices should be supported?

What use cases are best supported on the phone vs. the tablet?

How do we integrate all of these devices with our corporate data stores?

What are the right policies for device, app and communication

security?

What about BYOD?

What is Your Readiness – Business and IT?

4. Define the Role of Mobile Device Management. • Understand what you will manage.

• Policies across various usage and device types.

• Are these devices still “personal” if managed by corporate MDM?

• Is MDM part of a larger services strategy?

MDM is not the magic silver bullet that addresses all mobility issues.
