unmanned aerial vehicles for civil applications
What Skyline is a company whose proposal is to design and manufacture Unmanned Aerial Vehicles with a take-off weight not exceeding 20 Kg and the related management systems. 1st classified in the Prize Principi Attivi 2012 and 1st classified in the Prize Start Cup Puglia 2013 for the Agrifood – Cleantech sector in Apulia Region, actually Skyline is developing two different project: the realization of a fixed wing solar unmanned aerial vehicle with an endurance of at least 2 hrs; the implementation of a software and web application for precision farming that interface with unmanned aerial vehicles.
Who The team is composed by two aerospace engineers, specialized in the design of unmanned aerial vehicle with years of experience in the aeronautics field, a designer, an avionics engineer with several experience in systems for unmanned aerial vehicles, an electrical engineer specialized in renewable energy and a management engineer.
Where Skyline is actually localized in Bitetto (Bari), 10 Km from the city of Bari and the main airport of Apulian region. This location is beneficial for the development of collaborations with the numerous partners that support the projects. The city of Bitetto has given to Skyline the availability of 40 hectares of park for test activities. This location sees also the presence of Apulian Aerospace district, that is one of the most important not only in Italy but in Europe and is characterized by dynamic, flexible and innovative companies.
When Skyline is born in June 2013. It will develop the projects in the next two years, focalizing its interest both in the product and in the service. In fact the company is evaluating also different application, searching for partners in Italy and abroad
Why
Unmanned aerial vehicles for civil application are the new frontier in the world of aeronautics. In the next years all the world governments will define regulations that will permit the flight of this kind of aircraft, offering new different services and improving the quality of life. In this sector, mini and micro-uavs with a take-off weight of maximum 20 kg shows to have less rigid regulation requirements and big versatility.
