About the Author:Animation kolkata is one of the best and oldest MAAC centre in Eastern India. It is a part of MAAC family since nearly the inception of MAAC in Kolkata and having three branches at Kolkata. INTRODUCTIONThe Indian animation industry encompasses both traditional two-dimensional traditional and 3D animation,

as well as visual effects for feature films.1956, Disney Studios animator Clair Weeks, who had worked on Bambi,

was invited to Films Division of India in Mumbai to establish and train the country's first animation studio as part of the American technical co-operation mission.

Animation seems to be the next big thing in Indian movies and Hollywood may have something to do with it.

Movies like Shrek, Ice Age, Cars etc. have been smash hits across the globe and Bollywood obviously would not want to be left behind.

• Mainly because of budget.Bollywood animation movies aren't on the same scale of

graphics as Hollywood animation movies,

• So producers don't spend money on it because they don't want lose money if the movie fails to make the audience show up to watch it.

Animation is very popular in hollywood, so producers spend

a lots of money to make the graphics look as cool as possible

but it's not as popular in Bollywood,

Delhi Safari

Delhi Safari is a 2012 Indian bilingual stereoscopic 3D computer-animated comedy feature film directed by Nikhil Advani. • It has been produced by Krayon Pictures (a Pune-

based 3D animation studio).

The film is based on a story and concept by Advani and features the voices of Akshaye Khanna, Govinda, Sunil Shetty, Boman Irani, and Urmila Matondkar. • The screenplay of the film is written by Girish Dhamija and

Suresh Nair. The film traces the journey of five animals and birds from Mumbai to Delhi.

The music of the film is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, while the lyrics are penned by Sameer. It is India's first stereoscopic 3D animation feature film.

JUMBO

Jumbo is a 2008 Bollywood animation film directed by

Kompin Kemgumnird, produced by Percept Picture Company and

features the voices of Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Dimple

Kapadia, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani, Gulshan Grover, and Yuvraj Singh.

It has Yashveer Bains as lead role of Jumbo. The film is an official remake/redubbing of

the 2006 Thai film Khan Kluay.

The film was dubbed and released in Hindi and the creative direction on the

Hindi film was by Mayur Puri.

Jumbo released worldwide on Christmas Day 2008, but was met with poor critical

reviews and turned out to be one of the biggest box office

disasters of the year.

In 2011 A direct to DVD sequel titled Jumbo 2: The Return of the Big Elephant

was released.

Ramayana: The Epic

It is a 2010 computer-animated film from India's Maya Digital Media.Directed by Chetan Desai and produced by Ketan

Mehta,it was released by Warner Bros. India on 15 October 2010.

The film is a retelling of the story of Lord Rama, from his birth until his battle with Ravan at Sri Lanka

Ramayana is the directorial debut of Chetan Desai,the chairman and managing director of Maya

Digital Media.

More than 400 crewmembers worked on the film over a five-year period; the first three years were

spent designing the characters, while the other two were devoted to actual production.

Toonpur Ka Super Hero (Translation: Toonpur's Super Hero) is a 2010 3D animation film written by Raaghi Bhatnagar and directed by Kireet Khurana. The film features Ajay Devgan, Kajol, Sanjay Mishra, Tanuja and Mukesh Tiwari in lead roles along with a number of animated characters. The film was remade in English in early 2011.

Even though the film was India's first live action - 3D animation combination feature film, it failed to do well at the box office. It was disliked by many critics, who pointed out some of the spoilers of the film, such as it being a remake of the 1996 family film, Space Jam, which starred Michael Jordan.

Hanuma

n(Hindi: हनुमान) is a 2005 animated feature film directed by VG Samant and produced

by Percept Pictures and Silvertoons.

The animated film dramatizes the life of its title character,

The animation was created by Kakarakaya Pulsu. It is India's first major commercial

family animated feature (there were several earlier ones made by Pentamedia

Graphics).

Its box office was Rs. 8.18 crores and was declared a hit.

Mahabharat

is a 2013 Indian computer animated historical drama film, directed by • Amaan Khan and

based on the Hindu epic

The film was a Christmas release on

27 December 2013.Several actors like

Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Vidya

Balan, Sunny Deol, Anil Kapoor, have been signed up for the

characters in the film.

Mahabharat is touted as

most expensive

animated film in Bollywood.
