Album Advert Magazine
Analysis
TASKThe album magazine advert is a crucial component in our coursework. So extensive research is crucial as here are a
number of factors to consider that will influence our portrayal of our final version of our album magazine advert, such as:
Genre- As our genre is Pop we want the magazine advert to envision that. This means that font type, positioning of text and colour scheme is essential.
Digipack- There has to be some connection and semblance between our digipack‘s appearance and our magazine advert. We could achieve this by using the same font, our incorporating an image from our digipack onto the advert poster.
The positioning of the text isn’t random, but works
with the artists image and draws your focus to it. As
the text follows the outline of her face, enhancing the
star image.
The website in the bottom right hand corner allows a person to discover more
about the artist. As it establishes a connection
between the audience and the artist, again
promoting the star image. Also including the ITunes,
is cross- promotion. As Itunes will promote the
Artist as well.
The background image takes up the whole poster and has an
archaic vintage appearance. The style of the font juxtaposes with
it, as it has a paint look to it. This creates juxtaposition between the old (of the
background) and the new of the font’s paint like semblance. This
could be an indicator to the type of music the Artist is
promoting or the overall sound of the Artist, again promoting
the status of the Artist in subtle ways.
The colour of the white font is accentuated by
placing it on the Artist’s brown hair, again
another subtle technique. The use of bold of the featured singles captures your
attention.
By having a close up shot of the Artists head, instead of a body shot of the outfit allows the attention to be solely on the artist, allowing them to
attract attention and promote their impending release of
their product.
By including the image of the single cover of a new release ‘Shampain’, will
promote the new single as well as allowing it to reach as many people as possible.
Also the same font style (the pain look) has been
used for ‘Shampain’, showing a consistency in
the theme.
Here the significance of a close up head shot is utilized. Even though it’s shows from the waist up, the fact that her
clothes are black blend in with the background leaving the
focus on the star. Promoting the star image. Additionally, though she’s facing away and her eyes are focusing somewhere else
instead of ahead, the use of the effects such as the glitter like effect on the hair and in the
background has a distinct significance to the title of the
single ‘lights’.
The font style and colour fit in with the name of the single, ‘lights’ and has the
appearance the bendy luminescent lights you can purchase. The position of it
is the center and is accentuated because it’s
placed on top of her black dress.
The background and her outfit both being black, again
emphasizes the Artist and blend together at the bottom.
Promoting the star image and leaving the attention on the Star
and the name of the song.
By including the reviews, from a variety of sources such as
magazines, newspapers and other Artists shows the positive reception and the upstanding
reputation the artist has, through the critical acclaim
from important and well renowned sources, such as the
Guardian and The Times. But also promotes the wide
reception and appeal her music has to a variety of different people, boosting her image. Also the white font with the
black background creates a bold contrast.
Here you can see the theme being black and gold. It is incorporated through the outfit, to jewelry, to make up and through the colour
scheme of the album advert.
The black and gold also create a bold contrast and makes the album advert
stand out.
Here the logo of her record label is included promoting the record label as well as establishing that she’s being promoted by a well established record label in the music industry, promoting her
star image.
The close up of the Artist is used again to have the focus solely on her. Also her hands are used to frame the poster, which draws appeal and helps promote her album. Also the gold design on
the black lipstick diverts attention to her lips, increasing her appeal
and possibly her audience.
Also promoting another well known Artist who featured in her song establishes her as a
renowned Artist. Additionally, including ‘Number 1
International Smash’, promotes her status and that she’s had good reception In the charts
which is essentially every Artist’s objective, to be
successful.
The font is contrasted on the black background
fitting in with the Artist’s outfit.
Additionally by using gold instead of just
white font links it to the overall theme of black
and gold.
Also including a website shows that she’s got a wide
fan base but also establishes a connection between the
audience and the Artist. Further promoting the
Artist, and her other songs.
SUMMARYAfter reviewing and analyzing several album adverts. The main features that were consistent are:
The close up head shot
Reviews
A consistent theme throughout
The positioning of the font to compliment the image and overall appearance
Cross-promotion by a logo of a record company or the mention of ITunes.
