DESCRIPTION
This presentation was given at the 2nd International Conference for Community Psychology. It gives a basic overview of my experiences with the NetSquared conference and online community, and provides examples of a few ways that Community Psychologists are using the web to connect with each other and share resources. The intent of this is to kick start the discussion about how online community tools can be used to strengthen the international network of community psychologists before our next conference in 2010.

Excitement mounts as the 3rd International Conference for Community Psychology begins. As in previous years, community psychologists are gathering from around the world to share their research, build relationships, and envision the future of the field. But this time, something is different…

Back to ICCP
2ICCP is a conference. A fantastic conference.
What else is it?
What else can it be?
Community Psychologists are already using technology
Still, for most, this is technology:
Online resources specifically by/for community psychologists
The Community Toolbox and Workstation Igloo – SCRA community Listservs – SCRA listserv & subgroups Others?
So back to the question:
How can we most effectively use the Internet and emerging social media tools to effect these changes?
Parting thoughts…
Social web tools can be useful, but they are not a panacea
Social web tools are social, so they won’t be useful if no one uses them
Sometimes you just have to jump in…
