A mere idea or suggestion
According to the Indian Patent Act Section 3, a list of exclusions has been provided. Some of them include ‘the mere discovery of a scientific principle’, ‘topography of integrated circuits’, etc.

HOW TO PATENT?
Prior art search to prove the novelty of invention
Applying for a patent by submission of ‘Patent Application’ and related legal and fee documents online (www.ipindiaonline.gov.in) or through a Patent Agent
In case application is not eligible, applicant will be notified to fulfill the requirements within 3 months
If eligible, the application is kept open on the portals of RMID section for perusal and further debate
Once approved (within a term of 3-4 years), a Patent Certificate is given and patent is valid for 20 years
USP OF THE DRIVE
LEGAL ASSISTANCE :
Up to initial draft of patent – by RGSoIPL
Final draft and filing – by a registered law firm
PROCEDURAL ASSISTANCE :
By the facilitation team comprising of professors, TTG members and volunteers from RGSoIPL
