Google  Plus/Hangouts  

   Google+  is  a  new  social  networking  service  set  up  by  Google.    Google  Hangouts  provides  a  place  for  video  mee=ngs  and  events.

   Google  launched  its  own  social  networking  site,  Google+    in  June  2011,  and  it  was  reported  in  September  2012  that  it  had  achieved  over  100  million  ac=ve  users  (with  over  400  million  users).

where  you  can  view  the  stream  of  informa=on  shared  by  your  friends  and  contacts  –  whom  you  can  categorize  into  “circles”

Top  right  is  a  liKle  green  icon.  This  is  Google’s  Hangouts  feature  –  for  video  chat.    You  can  create  a  hangout  to  have  a  conversa=on  with  up  to  9  people.

about  yourself,  and  where  you  are  located.  •  Your  own  Profile  page  also  shows  the  posts  you  have  

made  and  which  circles  you  have  shared  them  with,  or  whether  they  are  public.  

Google+  :  People  •  This  features  provides  some  sugges=ons  of  people  

you  might  like  to  follow  on  Google+.      •  It  is  also  where  you  can  set  up  your  circles  and  

manage  the  people  in  them.  

Google+  :  Photos  •  This  is  the  place  where  you  can  upload,  organize  and  

share  your  photos.    •  It  also  includes  an  image  editor,  privacy  op=ons  and  

sharing  features.  

Google+  :  What’s  hot  •  These  are  the  posts  that  are  popular  on  Google+.  

Google+  :  Communi=es  •  Communi=es  are  like  groups;  they  are  a  place  where  

people  of  similar  interests  can  gather  and  talk  about  a  common  interest.  

•  Anyone  can  set  up  a  Community.  •  All  you  need  to  do  is    to  decide  whether  it  is  to  be  a  

Public  or  Private  community  –  note  this  cannot  be  changed  –    and  then  name  it.  

•  In  a  Community  you  can  also  hold  a  Hangout  for  community  members.  

Google+  :  Event  •  Here  you  can  see  the  events  you  have  been  invited  

to  ,  as  well  as  those  that  have  taken  place.      •  You  can  also  create  your  own  event  –  and  invite

Google+  :  Hangouts  on  Air  •  A  Hangout  on  Air  is  a  public  hangout  with  more  than  

10  people.  •  You  can  also  start  your  own  Hangout  on  Air.  •  Google  will    stream  your  live  hangout  publicly  on  

your  Google+  profile,  your  YouTube  channel  and  your  website.    

•  During  the  broadcast,  you  can  look  inside  the  Hangout  to  see  how  many  viewers  are  watching  live.  

•  Once  you’re  off  the  air,  Google  will  upload  a  public  recording  to  your  YouTube  channel  and  to  your  original  Google+  post,  so  it’s  easy  to  share  and  discuss  your  broadcast  afer  it’s  over.
