2. 1) The Most WonderfulTime of the YearYou can feel it in the air, if notsmell it. Fall is coming, but beforethe break of blistering heatcomes the wafting scent ofsmoldering hickory, the howlingof school battle cries, appreciating the remainingdays of sundresses, andemptying the cooler for lastminute libations beforemarching toward the stadium. All of this leading up to 22 menseparated by no less than 10yards on a collision course oncetoe meets leather. Its footballseason. Drink it up, live it, loveitit goes by too fast. 3. 2) Denard ShoelaceRobinsonFor the past two seasons DenardRobinson has been Mr. Heismanduring the first month of play.Through eight Septembergames in 2010 and 2011,Robinson put up video gamenumbers (2,600 total yards and21 touchdowns). If Michigan is to have anychance at all against Alabama,Robinson is going to have toplay his best game to date. Toput it simply, his stats are goingto have to be beyondDenarded. Yeah, thats anadjective describing improbableperformance.Nick Saban stated that Robinsonis by far the best offensive playerSam Wolson / The Michigan Dailythe Tide has faced since CamNewton. The Wolverines willneed Shoelaces game towarrant the Heisman chatter likenever before. 4. 3) DeAndre HopkinsIf Sammy Watkins were dressedto play Auburn this Saturdaynight, not many people wouldgive the Tigers from the Plainsmuch of a chance. But thanks toa spring drug charge, Clemsonwill be without their mostdynamic player.DeAndre Hopkins will have topick up the slack. The junior hashad more than 50 catches ineach of his first two seasons andwould be a star on any otherteam in the ACC. Clemson willneed a big game out of him inorder to leave Atlanta with theW.Mike Ehrmann / Getty Images North America 5. 4) Boise State has noMooreFor the first time since 2007 theBroncos will have a new startertaking snaps from the center.Kellen Moore is gone, and withhim leaves the void of nearly15,000 yards, 145 touchdownsand 50 wins. Replacing collegefootballs all-time winningestquarterback is Joe Southwick. The junior backed up Moore thepast two seasons, completing40-54 for 400 yards. Southwickrecently won the position andthe daunting task of leading theBroncos into East Lansing to takeon William Gholston and one ofthe nations best defenses. If theBroncos can pull off the upsetagainst Sparty, Chris Petersensstock will have never beenhigher.Otto Kitsinger III/Getty Images North America 6. 5) David AmersonLet me introduce you the mostunderrated player in all ofcollege football, NC Statecornerback David Amerson.Last season Amerson led thenation by setting an ACC record13 interceptions. This Friday, the6-3 194 pound cornerback willbe tasked with covering the Volstop receiver, Justin Hunter.Amerson will be put on anisland, going one-on-one withHunter and freeing up the rest ofthe Wolfpack secondary.Tennessee will try to sling the ballall over the field. If the Wolfpackare going to pull off the upset,Amerson will have to lock upHunter. Bob Leverone, Associated Press
