I. Traditional sports and games we represent

1. Pierścieniówka (eng. Ringnetball)

2. Main goals of our Institution

a). theoretical:

• conducting research on Polish and foreign traditional sports and games (especially in Europe)

•writing publications on this subject (in Polish and English):- e.g. works of prof. Wojciech Lipoński and prof. Małgorzata Bronikowska; my works (articles, doctoral thesis)

• participating in scientific conferences, projects, seminars etc. in Poland and abroad:

e.g. projects such as:a). „Recall: Games of the Past – Sports for Today” led by

TAFISA and supported by many partners, including University School of Physical Education in Poznań (prof. Bronikowska)

b). „Strengthening European Traditional Sports” (SETS)

• running theoretical classes for students from such subjects as ethnology of sport and others

b). practical activities

We use traditional sports and games in Poland in many practical situations such as:

•physical education at schools

•recreation of the elderly

•promotion of healthy lifestyle

• As the elements of feasts, festivals, events

• during practical classes for Polish and international (Erasmus) students

• As an element helpful in maintaining and promoting of collective, local identity
