Thank you for visiting CrossfitShoesHQ.com , your Crossfit Shoes Headquarters. As
promised, here is your free Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Best Crossfit Shoes!
The ideal Crossfit shoe is a minimalist shoe. If you haven't heard that term before, a
minimalist shoe is a shoe that lets you run or workout with a feel as if you were barefoot. With
that being said, how do you know a shoe is considered minimalist?
When choosing the best shoes for Crossfit, there are plenty of options to choose from and we
are here to make this process a bit less complicated for you. Choosing the best shoe for your
WODs should be based on a few factors: Comfort, Weight, Performance, Cost, and
Durability.
Comfort
Like any athlete, you want to wear a shoe that’s comfortable so you can complete your brutal
workout without hurting your feet. You also want your shoes to be breathable because as you
may have experienced, you will be drenched in sweat after any WOD. Most Crossfit shoes
are built for comfort, but feet come in all shapes and sizes so what may work for an athlete
may not work for another. The athletes with the most problems here, are the ones with wide
feet, but fortunately some companies have designed shoes for the wide loads.
Weight
Due to the intensity of WODs, you don’t want to be weighed down by heavy shoes when
you’re trying to be quick on your feet.
Performance
Since completing your WODs in the fastest time possible (with proper form) is the name of the
game, you want to make sure you choose shoes that will improve your performance, NOT
hinder it.
A number of features can affect your performance such as: flexibility, sole thickness, and flat,
stable heels to name a few.
Shoe flexibility is a must for any athlete for obvious reasons. If you can’t move your feet
freely, your workouts will suffer and so will your feet. You want to buy shoes that are as close
to barefoot as possible.
For heavy lifts such as a deadlift, where force is driven through the heels against the floor, a
flat, hard sole and stable heel is recommended so you can get the most amount of force
transferred to the ground and remain on your heels. These types of shoes allow you to move
heavy loads more efficiently.
You don’t want to use a shoe with a soft, raised heel for these types of moves because it
cushions the force through the heels and can get you on your toes making them a bit
unstable.
Cost
Although the only official Crossfit shoe is the Reebok Nano, many athletes use shoes that are
beneficial to their WODs and the prices range anywhere from $45 to $150.
This is one area where more expensive doesn’t necessarily mean better because it all comes
down to the athletes preference and what they believe will keep them in the competition.
Durability
If you’re serious about Crossfit, you’re going to buy a high quality shoe that will help you
perform at your best and go all out on every single WOD. By the same token, you want to
make sure the shoe you payed for is durable to withstand months of hardcore training.
In the next few pages I'm going to show you the highest rated shoes in the Crossfit
community and give you some details about each shoe so that you can determine if they are
the right fit for you. Clicking on the links and pictures in this guide will direct you to a page

Reebok Crossfit Shoes
Reebok Crossfit Nano
Reebok is the official shoe sponsor for Crossfit so we'll start off with their collection of shoes.
The Nano comes with U-Form technology, which allows you to mold the inside of the shoe to
your foot (using a blow dryer, yes that's not a typo!). It comes with super ventilated mesh to
keep your feet as cool as possible and DuraGrip tape along the toe cap, to make the shoe
durable under rigorous WODs. For a detailed video about the Nano please click this link
Best for: WOD's, running, olympic lifting, rope climbing
Price: $120

Reebok Crossfit Nano 2.0
The 2nd version of the Nano came with some improvements from its predecessor. The shoes
provide more flexibility, breathability, and a wider toe box while providing great stability for
olympic lifts, making it one of the best all-around Crossfit shoes. For a more detailed
description you can see our blog post here
Best for: WOD's, running, olympic lifting, rope climbing
Price: $110 ($10 cheaper than the original Nano)

Reebok Crossfit OLY Lifter
The Reebok Crossfit Oly Lifters are those odd looking shoes with the thick heels which are a
mix between a runner’s shoe and an olympic lifting shoe. The shoes are specifically designed
for Crossfitters so that they can go from doing big lifts to other explosive movements such as
box jumps, jump rope, burpees, etc.
One thing the shoe was not designed for was running. If you do need to run in these shoes,
make sure it’s not a long distance run because it will alter your biomechanics and you will not
feel safe running.
Best For: Olympic lifting, some WODs, rope climbing, not good for long distance runs
Price: $150
Where to Buy: Click here to buy the Reebok OLY Lifter with FREE domestic shipping
Inov-8 Crossfit Shoes
Inov-8's are another shoe that's very popular amongst Crossfitters because of their
minimalistic properties and resiliency during WOD's. All F-Lite shoes by Inov-8 have 3
components in common (upper part, midsole, and sole), the upper part and sole are the same
in all of them. The difference is in the midsole. To see a short video comparing the 3 different
midsole visit this blog post here
Inov-8 F-Lite 195

Converse All-Stars aka Chuck Taylor's
The Chucks are probably the cheapest shoes you'll find in the Crossfit community. That does
not mean they are not durable or good for WODs. The shoes provide great stability and
flexibility making them great for weightlifting and some WODs. Because of their lack of
cushioning, however, these are not ideal for running. They can be used for rope climbing
because of the tough rubber sole, but the upper part is thin and can cause some pain to the
top of your foot.
Best for: Olympic lifting, WOD's, rope climbing
Price: $45
