• The term "Grand Slam" without qualification refers to winning the four majors in a single calendar year.

• Launching in 1905, the Australian Open has been staged in seven cities throughout Australia and New Zealand. It moved to its present home of what is now known as Melbourne Park in 1988

Roland Garros
• Is a major tennis tournament held over two weeks between late May and early June at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France. Named after the French aviator Roland Garros
• It is the premier clay court tennis championship event in the world and the second of four annual Grand Slam tournaments
• Current Men’s Singles champion: Stan Wawrinka
• Current Woman’s Singles champion: Serena Williams

Wimbledon
• Is the oldest tennis tournament in the world, and is widely considered the most prestigious.
• The tournament takes place over two weeks in late June and early July, in Wimbledon, London.
• Since the Australian Open shifted to hardcourt in 1988, Wimbledon is the only major still played on grass.

US OPEN
• US Open is played on hard court
• Since 1987, the US Open has been chronologically the fourth and final tennis major comprising the Grand Slam each year
• The US Open is held annually, starting on the last Monday in August, and lasting for two weeks into September
• Is the only major that employs tiebreakers in every set of a match.
