Esteemed Members and Friends of Mission Hills,

The inaugural Mission Hills Star Trophy was an overwhelming success that attracted huge attention within the international golf world. Compared to our previous tournaments, this event had a wide spectrum of participants, from cultural icons and sport stars, golf kings and queens, to professional and amateur golfers competing against each other and playing on the same course. It was an event that not only ignited everyone’s competitive spirit, but it allowed people from different backgrounds to connect on a personal level and create their own happy memories. It’s through the sport of golf that makes my life and countless other golfers so interesting.

Many participating celebrities and golfers told me they will always remember this event at Mission Hills • Haikou since it was such a one-of-a-kind competition. People from five different continents and different industries came together and met for the first time because of golf. Within four short days, many new acquaintances became old friends. I felt so moved by these relationships, and it illustrated the importance of golf and how it means much more than simply playing a game.

Looking back to the origin of present-day golf, legends say bored Scottish shepherds were the first golf addicts. Today, golf has now become an important business tool and social platform. But its essential allure still lies in the sense of achievement and a feeling of tranquility when you play in the great outdoors and challenge yourself against nature.

Like Mission Hills • Haikou, our golf courses perfectly balance the natural landscape with man’s ingenuity. Here, you can truly enjoy the bliss of nature. And as we are heading into winter, the weather conditions make it a perfect time to play golf. 尊敬的會員朋友：

首屆觀瀾湖世界職業明星邀請賽在大家共同關注之下取得了圓滿成功。與我們以往舉辦的賽事相比，這次比賽首次讓文體巨星、男女球王、職業業餘選手同場對決，整個過程充滿了精彩、開心和趣聞，比賽的盛況讓我本人也又一次體味到了高爾夫的魅力有多大。

參與盛會的多位明星選手們告訴我，非常享受在海口觀瀾湖的比賽，因為這種獨一無二的比賽，把高爾夫變得更加快樂，跨界的明星因為高爾夫有了共同的語言，難得相聚的朋友們也因為高爾夫從五大洲相聚在一起，真正體現了友好的交流重於比賽的勝負。許多新朋友在短短4天裡已經像久違的老朋友。我非常感動大家有這樣的收穫，也說明了快樂高爾夫在我們生活中的重要性。

其實，從高爾夫的起源來看，就是牧羊人發明的一種妙趣橫生、興味盎然的快樂遊戲，現在，隨着社會的發展，高爾夫還成為了重要的商務工具、社交平台，但是它本質的魅力還是從挑戰自然、自我中獲得的快樂和寧靜。像海口觀瀾湖，球場完美體現了大自然的風貌，置身其中，可以充分享受融於自然的喜悅感受。所以，時如秋冬，正是打球的好季節，我也非常希望會員朋友們每次來到球會，都會享受到快樂高爾夫的美好心境。

With the world’s most valuable golfers, cultural icons and sport stars, and celebrity players from over 30 countries and regions as part of the inaugural Mission Hills Star Trophy, the event’s finale wowed the crowd of more than 120,000 golf fans from around the world.這場讓球迷和影迷同時驚聲尖叫的月末壓軸大戲雲集了來自世界超過三十個國家和地區的最有價值的高爾夫職業球手、文體巨星和演藝巨星，吸引了逾十二萬名世界各地的球迷到場觀賞。

After four exciting days, at the end of October, Mexican professional golfer Lorena Ochoa claimed the shiny Champion Cup at the inaugural Mission Hills Star Trophy, a ground-breaking Celebrity Pro-Am tournament. The champion also received a hefty prize of US$ 1.28 million, the richest individual prize in Asian golf. Eric Tsang and Candie Kung won the Team Champion with a one-shot lead and were awarded the US$ 100,000 prize.

Similar to sentiments made by many players, Ochoa said, “This is a marvellous competition. I am so happy playing golf here and meeting so many friends. I greatly enjoyed my days here. Winning the championship is a wonderful experience that I will never forget.”

After being named as the “Haikou Golf Tourism Ambassador”, Ochoa added, “Haikou is a beautiful city. Its unique culture and charm are enchanting. The Mission Hills golf courses are gorgeous and very special. I want to recommend Haikou, and recommend Mission Hills to everybody. I must live up to my title of ambassador and let more people know about this beautiful Haikou because this is my lucky place. I will always come back.”

In the award presentation ceremony, Tsang said, “At the Mission Hills UNICEF charity dinner on the 29th, I saw Maggie Cheung, Charlie Yeung, Gigi Leung and Lisa S. Especially Maggie, it is rare to see her in such an event as she doesn’t play golf. Seeing them so supportive of the charity, I discussed in private with Sun Nan to donate the prize to UNICEF if we win.” As a known philanthropist, Tsang fulfilled his promise by donating his prize money.

2010年10月31日，為期4天的「觀瀾湖世界職業明星邀請賽」在觀瀾湖．海口國際高爾夫度假區圓滿落下帷幕，墨西哥職業高球手洛蕾娜．奧查婭舉起了金光閃閃的獎盃，接過128萬美元獎金的支票。曾志偉和龔怡萍以領先對手1桿的優勢奪得配對賽團體冠軍，並獲得10萬美元的獎金。

也許，我們借用奧查婭的話能代表本次比賽每一個參賽運動員的心聲：「這是一個相當棒的賽事。在這裡打球很開心，我認識了很多朋友，並且很享受在這裡的每一天。能夠奪冠絕對是一次美好的經歷，它讓我終身難 忘。」在被海南省政府聘為「海口高爾夫旅遊形象大使」後，奧查婭也說：「海口是一座美麗的城市，其獨特的文化和魅力讓人着迷。觀瀾湖球場很漂亮，很有特色。我要向所有的朋友推介海口，推介觀瀾湖。我要當好這個大使，傳達友誼，讓更多人瞭解美麗的海口。因為這裡是我的幸運之地，我會經常回來。」

在頒獎禮上，曾志偉說：「29日觀瀾湖聯合國兒童基金會慈善晚宴時，我看到張曼玉（Maggie）、楊采妮、梁詠琪和Lisa S.都來了，尤其是Maggie，很難得出現在這種場合，她不打球，仍都這麼支持慈善，我就和孫楠私下商量，如果拿到獎金就捐給聯合國兒童基金會。」一向熱心慈善的曾志偉最終把自己的獎金捐出，實現了自己與孫楠在開賽時的諾言。

At the opening press launch on 27 October, Dr. Ken Chu, the Vice President of Mission Hills Group and Mr. Zhu Hansong, the Deputy Mayor of Haikou City, appeared with sport stars and international celebrities including Mission Hills Star Trophy Ambassador Greg Norman, Hollywood star Christian Slater, Olympic gold-medalist swimmer Michael Phelps, Chinese auteur director Feng Xiaogang and famous Chinese actor Chen Daoming.

Chen and Feng expressed their curiosity upon first meeting the legendary Olympic swimmer. Chen was amazed by Phelps’ long arms, while Feng asked, “I really want to know, how do you [Phelps] swim so fast. Is there a shark chasing behind you when you train?” Phelps burst out with a laugh, and immediately patted Norman on his shoulder and said with a smile, “Actually, the shark is my favourite animal!”

28 明星業餘配對賽 the professional﹣ amateur tournament

On 28 October at 7:30pm, the Mission Hills Star Trophy also attracted talk show hosts from Phoenix Satellite Television. The hosts were at Mission Hills • Haikou to shoot its three signature programmes. With hosts Dou Wentao, Hu Yihu and Xu Gehui in attendance, they humoured guests with a play on the word “birdie”, used in golf terminology, to set up the hilarious “Golden Birdie Award”. Known as the most sociable Hong Kong artiste, actor Eric Tsang shared his experience of the tournament with Xu, “Without playing golf, you don’t know how stupid you are. Golf is a very challenging sport. In my 17 years of golfing, my best result is 79 shots. When I’m golfing I’m sometimes smart, sometimes stupid. But most of the time I’m stupid.” This summed up what Hu said to the guests, that they “share the laughter of golf to the world”.

10月2 8日晚7點3 0分，鳳 凰 衛 視 的 三 檔 王 牌 欄目 《鏘鏘三人行》、《一虎一席談》、《名人訪談錄》都將節目錄製現場放在了海口觀瀾湖，竇文濤、胡一虎、許戈輝齊齊登場，名嘴們不僅調侃嘉賓，更借用高爾夫術語小鳥（birdie）之名，現場設置了逗趣的「金鳥獎」。號稱香港演藝圈「人緣最好」的曾志偉在接受許戈輝採訪時說：「不打高爾夫不知道自己有多笨，高爾夫是一項非常有難度的運動，我打了17年高爾夫球，個人最好成績是79桿，自己在打球的時候是『偶爾聰明偶爾笨』，但笨的時候居多。」這個夜晚就像胡一虎向嘉賓們建議的那樣，嘉賓們「把打高爾夫的笑聲跟全世界分享」。

The actual competition on 30 and 31 October was really exciting. Players made every effort in order to win the championship. On the green, the teaming of celebrities and professional golfers brought sparks and highlights to the golf match for the ten thousands of audiences from around the world.10月30日至31日的正式比賽緊張刺激，參賽選手都奮力表現，向最終的冠軍發起衝擊。賽場上，明星與職業球手的搭配碰撞出不少「火花」和亮點，給數十萬各地觀眾帶來一場精彩紛呈的高球賽事。

During the competition, Tiger Woods’ former coach Hank Haney, the Honorary Coach of Star Trophy 2010, provided hands-on instruction to the celebrity compet-itors by analysing and demonstrating the postures, at times encouraging the competitors. Meanwhile, he also organised a golf-learning activity specially for teenagers, giving the children an opportunity to be taught by the world-class golf coach.

for the Revolutionary New Course at

The imagination-stoking ‘Mission Hills Fantasy Golf Hole Contest’ invites amateur golf-course architects to submit bold and daring conceptual plans for a Par 3, 4 or 5. Winning submissions will be brought to life on the soon- to-be-constructed Icon Course at the Mission Hills • Haikou Resort destination on Hainan Island, China.

The radical Icon Course will feature holes as intrepid and extreme as any ever designed. Keeping with this theme, entries will be evaluated largely on creativity. Outside-the-box concepts are highly encouraged – for instance, inspiration may be drawn from inanimate objects, animals or famous global landmarks. Designs must also accommodate playability, construction-feasi-bility and other criteria. Mission Hills and Schmidt-Curley Design (architect of the 10 courses at Mission Hills • Haikou) will lead the judging.

After four months of heated competition, the 7th Mission Hills Golfathon came to an end with Chau Pui beating 100 players to score his first Golfathon Championship trophy with 73 Gross Strokes.

The win results in an automatic invitation in October to the Mission Hills Star Trophy at Mission Hills • Haikou, to play alongside celebrities including Olympic gold-medalist swimmer Michael Phelps, golf legend Greg Norman and canto-pop singer and actor Aaron Kwok.

Winners of other divisions were also finalised: Chan Ching Pao, Chen Li Qing, Liu Rui Xin and Tan Vi Kung won the Men’s Senior, Ladies’, Juniors’ and Men’s Divisions respectively. And these winners will be invited to be 2011 Omega Mission Hills World Cup Honorary Observers to witness the 56th World Cup.

In the kick-off ceremony, Mission Hills Golf Club, Executive Director and General Manger, Tony Ip, represented Mission Hills, welcoming the arrival of players and guests, as well as expressing a heartfelt thanks to those who supported the event.

經過4個多月的等待，第七屆觀瀾湖高爾夫馬拉松大賽冠軍歸屬終於解開懸念。周 從100名參賽者中脫穎而出，以73桿的總桿成績首次捧得總冠軍獎盃。憑藉 這個冠軍，他獲邀參加了10月底在觀瀾湖．海口國際高爾夫度假區舉行的「觀瀾湖世界職業明星邀請賽」， 與格．諾曼、菲爾普斯、郭富城等一爭高下。

除了總冠軍，各組別冠軍也都已經浮出水面。陳清炮、陳利慶、劉瑞欣、Tan Vi Kung分別獲得常青組、女子組、少年組和男子組冠軍，他們將受邀成為2011年歐米茄 觀瀾湖高爾夫世界盃的榮譽觀察員，共同見證第56屆高爾夫世界盃的輝煌。

在賽前舉行的開球儀式上，觀瀾湖高爾夫球會執行 董事兼總經理葉錦傳代表觀瀾湖歡迎球手和嘉賓的到來，對支持賽事的各界代表表達了由衷的感謝。他說：「高爾夫馬拉松大賽是2004年為紀念球會榮膺世界第一大球會而發起的，目前已經成為觀瀾湖的一項傳統賽事。每年的馬拉松賽事都像是觀瀾湖的高爾夫嘉年華，成為眾多球友切磋球技、度假娛樂的平台。今年的比賽共吸引了近3,000人參賽，希望大家以後還一如既往地支持這項賽事。」

比賽還得到了香港演藝人高爾夫球協會的大力支持，包括會長黎瑞恩在內，隊員車婉婉、李思雅、劉丹、 王馨平、林敏聰等12位明星現身總決賽，為比賽的完美謝幕增添了精彩和祝福。

幾年來，高爾夫馬拉松大賽得到了眾多品牌的青睞，本屆賽事亦不乏名品助陣。其中，價值28.8萬的BMW 120i和價值58萬元的BMW 320i敞篷轎跑車尤其矚目，這是深圳寶源行（寶馬授權4S店）為參賽者們提供的一桿進洞大獎。本次的一桿進洞大獎設在奧拉沙寶球場的8號洞和17號洞，可惜參賽者運氣稍差，沒有人在此打出一桿進洞。其他贊助商包括Hugo Boss眼鏡、怡寶飲用水、佛倫斯（FOLUNSI）服飾、聯想等知名品牌。

同時，作為高爾夫馬拉松大賽的一部分，球僮馬拉松也已圓滿結束，經過6場比賽激烈爭奪後，冠軍獎盃由張秋雙摘得。「能夠參加球僮馬拉松大賽，我們受益匪淺，不僅為自己可以參加比賽而興奮，更為以後如何服務好客人提供了經驗積累。」她表示。

World Records. Since the launch, Golfathon has become one of Mission Hills’ signature event. This year’s competition attracted close to 3,000 contestants, I hope everyone will continue to support this event.”

The game also received support from the Artiste Golf Association of Hong Kong. President Vivian Lai, members Stephanie Che, Cindy Li, Lau Dan and Linda Wong, all participated in the Grand Final, adding significance to the challenging event.

At the same time, as part of the Golfathon contest, the Caddie Golfathon was a success. After six fierce races, the Championship was won by Zhang Qiu Shuang.

“To participate in the Golfathon, we do not only enjoy the game and the excitement, but more importantly, we understand how to provide better service to the guests in the future.” Zhang Qiu Shuang said.

Chau Yue fell in love with the sport of golf eight years ago and started living at Mission Hills. By the end of 2005, he brought his 15-year-old son to the golf course to experience his favourite pastime. Soon the father-and-son duo became frequent participants of the Mission Hills Golfathon. And five years later, Chau Pui becomes the Golfathon’s new champion.

After joining the Mission Hills Golf Series Junior Tour and taking part in the Mission Hills Golfathon for four years, the talented Chau Pui quickly gained experience and snatched four gold medals at the Mission Hills’ Members Championships.

With years of competition experience under his golfing belt, Chau Yue says, “We always regard competition as a kind of entertainment. It is very relaxing to venture into the spectacular scenery of Mission Hills. We have competed in other golfing venues as well, but our preference still lies in Mission Hills – a place we know very well.”

“Putting is beneficial to us both physically and mentally. Among all the golf courses at Mission Hills, the Annika Course turns out to be my favourite due to its rugged landscape and the uniqueness of its holes,” said Chau Pui.

Despite losing to Chau Pui, Chau Yue is proud of his son. “Pui is patient and consistent in his performance. He has attained almost the level of a professional golfer. It is hard for me to beat him now,” says Chau Yue with a smile.

8年前，周鉞因為喜歡上了高爾夫球而來到觀瀾湖，並把家安在了這裡。05年底，他帶着自己15歲的兒子一起下場練球；從2006年開始，這對父子已經成為觀瀾湖高爾夫馬拉松大賽的常客；如今歷經五年，兒子周 終於將冠軍收入囊中。

參加了數次青少年系列賽，打了4年的馬拉松，聰敏的周 很快就從比賽中汲取了長足的經驗，光是2010年他就拿下了4次會員錦標賽的冠軍。多年的互相陪伴支持，兩人都已經把激烈的賽事適應得駕輕就熟：「我們都把比賽當成一種娛樂和消遣，觀瀾湖有着如畫的風景，走在其中是一件十分愜意的事情。我們也曾出去比賽過，但我們更喜歡在觀瀾湖打，因為這裡的一切我們都很熟悉。」

「打高爾夫球有利於身心健康，觀瀾湖所有的球場之中，我最喜歡安妮卡球場，那裡山勢起伏，高高低低，每個洞都有特色。」周 說。

說到球技，周先生似乎並不在乎輸在自己的兒子手中，「他的長處在於比較耐心，技術穩定。他已經近乎一個專業的球手了，我很難贏他。」說這話時，他臉上帶着充滿愛的笑意。

We live on the Mission Hills’ premises and we practice golf together, so we actually spend a lot of time in each other’s company. Outside of golf, we still have a lot to chat about though,” says Chau Yue. 「五年來，我們每年都會一起參加高爾夫馬拉松。我們住在觀瀾湖，然後一起去打球，這樣我們就有更長的時間在一起。」父親周鉞說。

The mission Hills Golf Series Junior Tour’s second-season final was a success at the Mission Hills’ World Cup Course on 27 August 2010. There were 47 teen players qualified from five qualifying rounds in the second season to this final.

Battling against competitors in their divisions, Xu Andi, Grace Yan, Heng Cheuk Kit, Heng Cheuk Sze and Peng Xiaobin, stood out and crowned as the Net Stroke Winners; Sui Xiang, Yin Zijun, Wang Yichen, Wang Yifei and Ling Zhi topped the Gross Stroke prizes in their divisions respectively. All of them along with the 1st net score runner up of each division will be invited to the series’ grand final to fight for a ticket to the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final and Mission Hills Jack Nicklaus Junior Championship.

Similar to the previous season, this season’s final adopted the game rules of a 36-hole stroke play, which took place at the World Cup Course designed by Jack Nicklaus, one of the best players of the 20th century. During the two competition days in August, the junior players had to encounter hot weather. “They are experienced, so hot weather didn’t cause any problems. This challenged their determination and endurance, and was a valuable opportunity for them,” said one of the competitors’ parents.

An award-presentation was held at Mission Hills after the tournament, graced by Mr. Marco Geng, Vice General Manager of Mission Hills Golf Club, who thanked the series’ partners, and concluded that, “The Mission Hills Golf Club aims at assisting potential Chinese golf players in becoming top professional players. We have a sophisticated tournament system and our target is to nurture and develop a Tiger Woods in China, delivering talents to the Olympic game in the future.”

As the all-new junior tournament was launched by Mission Hills Golf Club, the Mission Hills Golf Series Junior Tour targets teenage players aged 9 to 18. The tournament, along with other junior tournaments such as Mission Hills Jack Nicklaus Junior Championship and Faldo Series Asia, creates a comprehensive junior tournament system with various divisions, so the sport of golf will grow in China and around Asia.

觀瀾湖青少年系列賽第二個賽季決賽於8月27日在觀瀾湖世界盃球場收桿，共有47名青少年球手從第二賽季五場選拔賽中脫穎而出，參加此次決賽。最終，許安迪、閆玥彤、幸卓傑、幸卓思、彭曉彬勇奪各組別淨桿冠軍。由於本次比賽還特設了總桿冠軍，隋響、殷子珺、王一辰、王奕霏及凌志分獲各組別總桿冠軍，他們將共同與各組別淨桿亞軍一起受邀參加青少年系列賽總決賽，爭奪「費度亞洲杯總決賽」和「觀瀾湖傑克．尼克勞斯青少年錦標賽」的參賽資格。

與上一個賽季決賽相同，本次決賽的賽制依舊採用36洞差點及總桿比桿賽，場地為「20世紀最偉大球員」 尼克勞斯設計的世界盃球場。兩天來，炎熱的天氣為小選手們製造了不小的障礙。「他們經常打比賽，炎熱的天氣應該不會造成太大的困擾，就看誰可以沉得住氣，調整好心態，這也是考驗鍛煉他們意志和耐力的好機會。」一位在旁觀戰的家長說。

賽後，觀瀾湖還舉行了隆重的頒獎典禮，觀瀾湖高爾夫球會副總經理耿勇祥先生對賽事的合作伙伴表示誠摯的感謝。「觀瀾湖擁有非常成熟的賽事體系，我們的目標是發掘和培養中國的老虎伍茲，為將來的奧運會輸送可造之材。」

觀瀾湖青少年系列賽作為觀瀾湖獨自創立的一個全新青少年賽事，專門針對年齡為9至18歲的男、女青少年球手。比賽將聯同觀瀾湖傑克．尼克勞斯青少年錦標賽、 費度亞洲杯等青少年賽事一起，打造觀瀾湖從低到高不同級別的青少年賽事體系，推動高爾夫運動在亞洲，特別是在中國的發展。

Club. The banquet celebrated the cultural significance of Remy Martin’s Louis XIII, seen as the king of cognacs. Impeccably attired guests were savoured haute cuisine, prepared by Mission Hills’ senior chef. On the menu were foie gras, black fungus soup and Angus beef. A jewellery show by Graff – “The most fabulous jewels in the world” completed an exquisite evening out.

Wine and Courses On 21 August, Mission Hills Golf Club teamed up with Silver Base Group for an inter-national wine-tasting event at the Dongguan Clubhouse. Through a sensory journey of 12 exquisite wines paired with gourmet cuisine from five continents, Mission Hill’s long-awaited 12 tournament courses were fully unveiled to over 100 guests.

Senior sommelier Christina Tang shared her views on how the evening’s wines matched the spectacular new courses: The mellow and timeless Château La Brande from Bordeaux was paired with the classic World Cup Course designed by Jack Nicklaus; the refreshing and spicy Ripasso Valpolicella illustrated the challenging Norman Course (Greg Norman); and the elegant Cuvée Saint Jean described the renowned course designed by legendary golfer Jose Maria Olazabal. Meanwhile, the comprehensive Annika Course (Annika Sorenstam) was represented by the rosy and balanced Bright Pink Rose Wine from Portugal. With smooth notes, but a strong finish, the rose wine best illustrated the golf course designed by the ‘female Tiger Woods’.

2010 Asian Golf Monthly AwardsWhich golf course drew the most attention in 2010? The answers were unveiled in the 2010 Asian Golf Monthly Awards, with a number of big names on the list. Mission Hills Shenzhen’s Olazabal Course was selected as the Best Course in China. The Blackstone Course in Mission Hills • Haikou designed by Brian Curley, where the Mission Hills Star Trophy had recently been held, was chosen as the Best New Course in Asia-Pacific. And the “Best Golf Resort in Asia-Pacific” award went to Mission Hills Shenzhen.

The 2010 Asian Golf Monthly Awards was divided into 27 categories, including 15 country-by-country winners, and the 12 best courses in the Asia-Pacific region. The voting period ran for two months from June to July, with more than 30,000 votes received from all over the world.

On 8 September, an invitational golf tournament for Driving Range entrants was held at Mission Hills Dongguan Clubhouse. It was the club’s first “Guangzhou-Dongguan Driving Range Invitational Tournament” at the Norman Course, which attracted 120 golfers from nine driving ranges in Guangzhou and Dongguan. In September, Mission Hills invited Lingnan zither master Mr. Chen Lei to perform archaic melodies, who played famous Chinese tunes like “The Moon at the Fortress Pass”, “Plum Blossom Melodies”, “The Stream Flowing through the Green Ravine” and “The Dialogue between the Fisherman and the Woodcutter”. With some 5,000 years of history, Mr. Chen also enlightened guests with the early beginnings of the zither. Last month we celebrated the harvest moon during the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the most celebrated festivals of the year. To mark the occasion, we created a large 80cm traditional Chinese mooncake to share with guests and members. Served with a mouth-watering array of local delicacies, the mooncake signalled a festival that dates back to the Tang dynasty in 618AD.

Another highlight of the evening included a performance by a Chinese zither musician, Ms Wang Yan, whose beautiful music permeated the air. The perfor-mance was the followed by a traditional Indian dance performance and imitation Michael Jackson show, which garnered rousing applause by guests. The lucky draw

rounded out a fun-filled night with amazing gifts given out to guests. Under the festive atmosphere and the beautiful scenery of Mission Hills,

This is the fourth part of MHTA’s series on ‘Better Tennis’ and we will focus on the serve this month. Here are some tips and techniques to help you polish your serve.

Now that we have covered the basic ground strokes and volleys, you are ready to go out and play some friendly matches. In order to play matches, you should start with a serve.

The tennis serve is a complex stroke which requires a sequence of kinematic motions executed in the correct order.

Here are some fundamentals that you should follow when executing your serve: 1) Grip, 2) Stance, 3) Ball Toss, 4) The Sequence of Swing.

1) grip: (See Picture 1)The continental grip is the best grip to generate a powerful serve with various types of spins.This grip allows you to maneuver your wrist more freely to generate maximum power and spin.

前面我們介紹了網球運動中基礎的落地擊球和截擊，我想你們打一些簡單的友誼賽是沒有問題的了。但是要說到正式的網球比賽，發球是必不可少的。

網球的發球是一個複雜且綜合的運動，它需要您將運動學原理的先後順序延用到正確的發球中。

我們將發球動作分解為以下幾個要點來幫助您練習：1）握拍；2）站位；3）拋球；4）揮拍的先後順序。

1）握拍：（見圖1）大陸式握拍可以幫您使打出的球更有力且帶出不同程度的旋轉。這種握拍方式讓您的手腕更靈活自如，從而使打出的球的力量和旋轉都達到最佳值。 2）站位：（見圖2）a）雙腳分開與肩同寬，前腳的腳尖對着右邊網柱，成對角狀，後腳與底綫基本成平行狀。

2) Stance: (See Picture 2)a) With your feet shoulder width apart, the front foot should be pointing at the net post, positioned diagonally, and the back foot should be almost parallel to the baseline.b) For singles, you should position yourself 2 feet from the center mark. For doubles, you should position yourself halfway between the center mark and doubles line.

3) Ball Toss: (See Picture 3)Hold the ball with your fingers (do not place the ball in the palm of your hand). Your ball tossing arm should be straight and parallel to the front leg. Your toss should be high enough so that is a few inches higher than when your racket is fully extended. If you follow the above sequence, your toss should be in front of you and at about one o’clock position.

4) The Sequence of swing: (See Picture 4a-b)The sequence of swing is a complex task mainly because you are putting everything together to serve over the net. Before we go over the sequence of the swing, I’d like to introduce an exercise, which simulates a serving motion. The best way to describe the serving motion is ‘upward ball throwing’.

5) The sequence of swing: (See Picture 5a-e, from the ready position)a) Start with a good rhythm;b, c) At start, the tossing arm goes down to the front thigh and throws the ball straight up to the air. The racket arm’s motion is like an upward ball throwing motion, you will hit up on the ball;d, e) As you make a contact with the ball you should be walking toward the ball you just hit;Get ready for the return of serve to get into a rally.

The tennis serve is something you can do on your own. As with other ground strokes we have covered, practice makes perfect!

觀瀾湖網球學院 — 發球技巧b）如果是單打的話，應該將自己的雙腳與中心標誌分開大約2步的距離。如果是雙打的話，身體的位置應該在中心標誌和雙打線之間中點的位置。 3）拋球：（見圖3）用五個手指將球托起（注意球不能接觸到掌心），拋球的手臂伸直與前腿平行。拋球要盡可能高於擊球手臂向上完全打開的高度（擊球手臂包括球拍的長度）。如果按照以上順序做，您會發現您的拋球應該是在身體前方的一點鐘方向。 4) 揮拍的先後順序：（見圖4a-b）揮拍的先後順序是一件複雜的事，因為您要將所有的技術動作集中在一起把球打過網。在談揮拍的先後順序之前，我想介紹一項運動給大家，這項運動正是發球的模擬訓練。用最恰當的一句話來描述發球應該是「向上的拋球運動」。

5) 揮拍的先後順序: （見圖5a-e所示，從準備姿勢開始）a）首先要有好的節奏感；b,c）開始的時候，拋球的手臂先往下至大腿處，然後將球豎直地向上拋起。握拍手臂的運動正如向上拋球的運動，最後再用球拍向上將球擊出；d,e）當球拍擊中球後，您應該有慣性地往剛打球的方向向前移動；準備好接發球，進入比賽狀態。

網球的發球是一項可以由自己決定的技術動作。同其它擊球方式一樣，發球也是要多練習才會熟能生巧！

觀瀾湖 — 實習生的快樂發展大本營misson hills — a happy base

Six months ago, we were ambitious and confident, while immature and simple as well, when curiously knocking on our first career door when stepping into Mission Hills and starting the journey as trainees.But now, we are fully fledged Mission Hills staff who are passionate, diligent, and positive. By the cultivation process in Mission Hills, we are more confident and well-mannered, steadfast and mature while as vivacious and innocent as before.

半年前的我們，意氣風發，青澀懵懂，懷揣幾絲欣喜，好奇地叩響職場大門，走進觀瀾湖，開始實習之旅。半年後的我們，已成為觀瀾湖的正式員工，依然熱忱、勤奮、上進；通過在觀瀾湖的歷練，讓我們更加自信、大方，穩重而不失活潑，成熟而不失純真。

初識觀瀾湖：熱忱與挑戰Mission Hills iMpression: passion and CHallengeIntroduction — Showing Sincerity, Gathering TalentsOur first impression of Mission Hills came from the exciting introduction made by HR team. We were touched by the passion, friendliness and sincerity emitted from them, and etched a good impression of Mission Hills. Especially, we were absorbed by the “Graduates Cultivation Program”, which aims to foster the best talents for China’s sports and recreation industry in the future. Through this program, Mission Hills attracts over 400 outstanding graduates from renowned universities at home and abroad every year, offering them a wide range of career development opportunities from golf operation management, tournaments, sports development and hospitality management to marketing, administration, human resources, finances, etc. Many of the club’s management were originally cultivated in such programs. We couldn’t wait to display our abilities in Mission Hills so appealing for its brand and career prospect.

Interview — Many Rivers to Cross, One in a Hundred To enter into Mission Hills, we first needed to go through a series of challenging 360 degree interviews focusing on service consciousness, team spirit, communi-cation skills, interpersonal skills, personality and language skills of both Mandarin and English. Only 19 of us were stood out from over a hundred of applicants after several rounds of strict interviews like the “leaderless group discussion”.

宣講 — 大氣真誠，英才輩出初識觀瀾湖，緣於HR團隊的精彩宣講。生在內陸，對觀瀾湖一無所知的我，被她們的熱情友好、真誠大氣所感染，印刻下對觀瀾湖的美好第一印象。尤其吸引我們的是觀瀾湖的「大學生英才計劃」— 這個計劃旨在打造中國最優秀的體育休閒產業的人才。通過英才計劃，觀瀾湖每年會從國內外知名高校吸納400多名優秀大學生，為培訓生提供從高球運作管理、賽事及運動發展、酒店服務管理到市場傳訊、行政管理、人力資源、財務等多元的職業培養方向和廣闊的發展空間，且球會許多管理層員工都是由最初的英才計劃「栽培」出來的。觀瀾湖的品牌、個人的發展前景讓我們對她懷抱着極大的希望和嚮往。

面試 — 過關斬將，百裡挑一進入觀瀾湖，我們首先要挑戰層層的面試選拔。面試可謂是360度的，包括服務意識、團隊合作精神、人際溝通能力、主動性、解決問題能力、性格趨向，還有普通話標準程度、英語交流能力等。經過嚴格的初試、面試以及極富挑戰性的「無領導小組討論」等環節，我們19人「過五關斬六將」，終於「殺出重圍」，從本年級來應聘的一百多人中脫穎而出。

受訓觀瀾湖：成長與發展Training in Mission Hills: growTH and developMenT

迎新會 — 親切相迎，辭去生怯剛進入觀瀾湖，一切都很陌生，實習生迎新會來的恰是時候！球會高管們在會上給我們分享了個人成長的經歷，原來他們中也有三位是從實習生腳踏實地做起的，使我們信心倍增！一下子拉進了我們和球會的距離，真正覺得自己是觀瀾湖的一分子。為了讓我們體味到一份親切，各部門總監和經理與大家一同玩起了互動遊戲，讓我們着實感受到觀瀾湖這個充滿活力的團隊、處處洋溢溫暖的大家庭的魅力。

培訓計劃 — 量身定制，緊張充實實習伊始，每天都有很多新名詞鑽進耳朵：高球、賽事、一桿進洞、小鳥球等等，一頭霧水，這該如何從頭學起？不用擔心，球會已經為英才計劃中的每一位新人量身定制了詳細的培訓計劃。貫穿整個培訓計劃的重要組成部分有：行業和企業文化的融入、專業知識和技能的培訓，我們叫它OJT（On-Job-Training）、管理潛能發展和實踐活動。首先迎接我們的是人力資源部舉辦的為期兩天的入職培訓：《集團發展背景》、《組織結構及企業文化》、《如何開始新工作》、《球會服務和產品知識》、《卓越服務》、《電話處理技巧》、《人力資源政策》等。兩天的學習是緊張的，但卻很充實，有效地說明我們系統瞭解了球會的發展歷程及業務，以及公司對我們的期望，讓我們盡快融入了新工作和新環境。入職培訓中教官們反復向我們「灌輸」的是球會的宗旨和使命：不斷改進，堅持不懈地為我們的會員及客人提供一流的服務，使他們每次來到球會都能體驗最細心周到、最愉悅的服務。他們把這稱為「洗腦」。

導師制 — 指點迷津，關懷備至在我們的實習進程中，每個新人都被安排了三位大員為我們「保駕護航」。一位是我們的Mentor（導師），即我們部門的總監，主要對我們的職業發展方向、在工作中遇到的困惑給予指導；一位是我們的Line Manager （直接經理），手把手地教會我們許多崗位專業知識和技能，對我們的日常工作給予積極的指導和回饋，並在生活上加以關懷；還有一位來自HR的經理，管理我們的整個培訓計劃的進展以及瞭解我們工作的狀況。這就是我們英才計劃中的Buddy System導師制。比如Amy作為我的Line Manager，每天除了教會我工作上的許多事情，讓我熟知工作流程，能夠獨立勝任一些重要工作和項目外，還主動「邀請」我一起去Canteen吃飯，和我一同下班，有時還會到我的宿舍，關心我在生活中有無需要幫忙的地方等，就像我的「貼身保鏢」一樣。他們的良苦用心，都體現了觀瀾湖對我們實習生成長和發展的高度重視與關懷。

崗位培訓 — 破繭成蝶，快樂蛻變崗位的實習使我們大開眼界，讓每個人慢慢地找到了自己的方向和位置。我們下班後經常會在宿舍中開「臥談會」，話題大多是工作中的奇人趣事、培訓了什麼新

內容，諸如此類。我的一位好友Vivian在酒水部實習，起初她對酒水方面的知識並不感興趣。但經過系統的On-Job-Training，她不僅瞭解了酒吧的基本操作流程，酒水的出品標準，杯具及相應的裝飾搭配，雞尾酒的配方及製作標準，而且逐漸對葡萄酒產生了濃厚的興趣。她到處收集相關的資料，還經常跟我分享關於葡萄酒的知識。每次說起葡萄酒時的那個表情，如同談論自己的戀人一樣甜美。有一次我去崗位交叉培訓時，正好看到她已經在「培訓」新來的員工如何斟酒了，舉手投足間流露着優雅大方的氣質，那自信的神情使我不禁地想用一個「帥」字來讚歎這樣一個女子。

管理潛能發展課程 — 饕餮美食，受用不盡我們的實習是充實而忙碌的。各種提升我們管理能力的課程，如《追求卓越服務》、《服務主管必備技巧》、 《團隊建設》、《培訓培訓員》、《時間管理》、《高效能人士的七個習慣》、《有效溝通》、《投訴及突發事件處理》等課程也在不同的實習階段為我們一一開展。在授課的過程中，老師經常會花一些心思來活躍我們的課堂氣氛，恰到好處地運用培訓小遊戲、情景演練、分組討論等方式，以加深我們對重要內容的理解和記憶。如在《追求卓越服務》課堂上，我們每講完一個章節的內容就會通過Role-play來鞏固學習的成果。這使我們進一步認識到卓越服務和顧客忠實感的重要性，今後要從我做起，每一次都為會員及嘉賓提供卓越的服務。

團隊拓展 — 團結凝聚，獲益良多觀瀾湖對新人的打造，除了工作知識技能的培訓以及態度的培養，還非常重視對新人的實踐磨礪和團隊溝通協作能力的塑造。為提升實習生的團隊凝聚力、挑戰自我的勇氣，觀瀾湖專門為實習生及其導師在湖光山色的鄉村俱樂部舉行了主題為「體驗團隊精神，感受球會文化」的團隊戶外拓展。在「動感顛球」、「共同進退」、「勇闖雷陣」以及「團體車輪」等挑戰項目中，我們集思廣益，積極溝通，不斷磨合，處理實際問題的能力與水準都有所提升。儘管身體比較疲憊，但心裡開心且充實。沒想到在增進我們團隊凝聚力的同時，還開發了我們的潛能，真可謂獲益良多。

Welcome Meeting — Generating Favor, Excluding ShynessThe Trainees Welcome Reception was perfect for new comers like us! At the reception, some top management shared their personal growth experiences with us. Knowing the fact that three of them were also once trainees greatly increased our faith in Mission Hills by instantly clearing the gap between us and making us feel that we are truly part of Mission Hills. They also played interesting games together with us ,and we were deeply charmed by the warmth and vigor of the Mission Hills family.

Training Program — Tailor-made, Tight and MeaningfulAt the beginning of internship, we heard new terms every day such as golf, tour-nament, hole-in-one, birdie, etc. How to learn all these from scratch? No worry! The club’s Cultivation Program has made a comprehensive training plan tailor-made for each of us including important parts such as industry and corporate culture familiarization, On-Job-Training called OJT, and leadership development. The very first training was the two-day New Staff Orientation by HR: Group Busi-ness Introduction, Organization Structure and Culture, HR Policies and so on. The 2 days of training was tight but meaningful having us systematically learn about the group’s development and business, management’s expectation on us and also how to get familiar with the new job and environment. The club’s value and mission was repeatedly talked about by the trainers throughout the orientation: To constantly provide the members and guests with high-class and most delighted services resulting in most enjoyable experiences and make progress all along.

Buddy System — Lighting the Way, Rendering Care and WarmthEach trainee was assigned with three instructors throughout the internship process. One was the mentor, a divisional Director, who guided us and nurtured our career quest. The other was a line Manager, who taught us much job knowl-edge and skills hand in hand, and gave us useful guidance and feedback on our daily work. The third one was a HR Manager, who monitored our training program progress as a whole and cared for our working conditions. This is the

Buddy System of the Cultivation Program. For example, Amy is my line Manager who not only taught me plenty of things to let me familiarize myself with the working procedures and be capable to do some important tasks, but also had meals with me in the canteen, knocked off together and paid visits to my dorm to care for whether there was anything she could help me with in my daily life like a “bodyguard” to me. Their sincere attention reflected the high level of concern and care for the trainees’ growth and development in Mission Hills.

On-Job-Training — Upgrading Oneself Inside OutThe On-Job-Training opened our eyes by gradually showing each of us the guide-lines and directions. We often chatted about work anecdotes and new training subjects with each other in the dorm after knocking off. My good friend Vivian works in the Beverage Department. She had not much interest in beverage knowledge at the beginning. But after the systematic On-Job-Training, she not only learned the basic working procedures and service standards in the Cinnabar, but also got deeply fond of wine knowledge. She collected materials wherever she could, and also shared with me her knowledge about wine. The countenance when she talked about wine looked as sweet as talking about her lover. When I was arranged for cross training in her department, she had started teaching new staff about serving wine. I was amazed at the elegance and confi-dence she displayed during the training.

Management Potential Exploration — Feast of Training, Long Lasting BenefitsThe internship was productive and busy for the club had prepared many training courses for us in different internship phases: Drive Extra Yard Service, Super-visory Skills, Teambuilding, Time Management, Effective Communication, etc. The Trainers would always try to enliven the training atmosphere by games, role-play, and discussions to help us better comprehend and memorize the important aspects of the course content. For example, we were required to review what we learned by role-plays at the end of each chapter in the “Drive Extra Yard Service” course. It made us realize the importance of excellent service resulting in customer loyalty. Since then I always try my best to provide our members and guests with the extra yard services.

Teambuilding — To Cooperate, To GainMission Hills pays a lot of attention to shape new trainees by giving them the opportunity to practice, and forging their team spirit besides the job knowledge and attitude training. A teambuilding activity “Practice Team Work, Explore Corporate Culture” was carried out for the trainees in the idyllic fields of Country Club. It was to upgrade team cohesion and the courage of confronting one’s weaknesses. Our abilities of tackling practical problems improved through group discussions, active communication and increased cooperation in chal-lenging items such as “Top and Tip”, “Work Hand in Hand”, “Cross the Land Mine”, and “Group Rolling”. Although tired, we felt happy as we had learned a lot. We hadn’t thought it could be so fruitful enhancing the team cohesion and real-izing our potential.

Off Hours — Colorful Activities, Giant GainsManifold activities were organized regularly in Mission Hills for trainees who had been accustomed to colorful life in school, such as Interest Classes, Outing, Birthday Party, Annual Party, Mission Hills Service English Contest, English Reading Contest, and so on. More than anything else, we demonstrated ourselves and impressed everybody deeply. As a matter of fact, trainees from different schools cooperated together but also competed positively both on the job and in all kinds of activities. Meanwhile, we mutually supported each other in daily life, and became bosom friends. A Happy Base Camp has been established day by day, and we harvested the friendship as well as the spirit.

Top Golf Events — Opportunities Growing, Eye OpeningVarious world-class tournaments, like the Omega Mission Hills World Cup, are hosted in Mission Hills every year. Trainees with good ability of expres-sion, communication and a strong capacity to cope with emergencies can play an important role in it. We accepted the position of chaperon and thus provided hospitable services to the VIPs. Taking part in these activities helped us have a further understanding of how to organize a global event successfully, and we also got the chance to have contact with golf legends face to face. All in all, we expanded our horizons and benefitted greatly from the unforgettable experience. We were really so filled with emotion that a little golf ball could make such a great change to the world!

2010年10月28日，被視為世界頂尖高爾夫球教練的 漢克．哈尼與觀瀾湖高爾夫球會共同宣佈，雙方聯手打造的漢克．哈尼高爾夫學院在觀瀾湖．海口國際高爾夫度假區已經正式揭開面紗，老虎．伍茲前教練 — 漢克．哈尼，將透過成立這個學院在中國繼續他傳奇而輝煌的教練 生涯。

漢克．哈尼高爾夫學院佔地2,000平方米，有技術先進的室內培訓中心，學院內包含10個室內揮桿位，分別配有最先進的JC視頻揮桿、SAM推桿分析設備以及3D動畫分析設備。學院還設有室外真草練習場地、多功能的短桿區，同時包括全日制青少年精英項目、基礎高爾夫培訓班、高爾夫成就班、個人化高爾夫班以及團隊高爾夫培訓班等。

漢克．哈尼表示：「這裡的工作人員都是來自世界各地的精英，其中有些教練跟我學習及與我一同教學已超過20年了。」以漢克．哈尼認證方法教授的揮桿平面機械學為理論依託，教練均以這套被驗證無數次的教學理論，訓練職業和非職業球員。正因如此，漢克也成為高球界中頂尖的教練。

On 28 October, 2010, one of the world’s best golf coaches Hank Haney and Mission Hills announced the official opening of the Hank Haney Golf Academy at Mission Hills · Haikou. As Tiger Woods’ former coach, Haney brings his legendary coaching methods to China.

Boasting 2,000 square meters of land, the academy is equipped with an indoor training center and 10 indoor putting areas to provide players with the most advanced putting analyses through the JC video system, SAM PuttLab (science and motion) and 3D animation. The academy also features an outdoor practicing area covered with natural grass and a multi-purpose short game area. These superb facilities make the academy an ideal place for full-day junior elite programmes, basic training courses, advanced courses, personalised courses and group trainings.

“All the staff here are elite, recruited from around the world. Some of the coaches have even undergone the same training with me, and have been collaborating with me on golf coaching for over 20 years,” said Haney.

The coaches provide training for both professional and amateur golfers based on the principle of plane surface putting mechanism – a proven coaching principle by Hank Haney. With Haney’s name behind the new academy, it will undoubtedly be one of the best places in Asia to improve and up your game of golf.
