LSC BASKETBALLThe Tarleton State men are the Lone Star Conference’s only undefeated team at 5-0. Four other squads have just one loss including the Angelo State men, and Midwestern State, TSU and West Texas A&M women. This week’s schedule includes 14 non-conference games on the men’s side and 12 for the women. The LSC men have a 33-19 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s teams are currently 7-2 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 7-6 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The LSC women are 24-27 overall. The women’s squads are currently 5-13 combined against the Heartland, and 6-3 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region. The LSC champion will be the regular season winner determined by league games, while the postseason tournament winner is designated as LSC Tournament Champion and earns the conference’s automatic qualification. The top eight teams in the final conference standings qualify for the postseason tournament set for March 4-7 in Allen, Texas.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEKMEN’S OFFENSIVEDemario Mayfield, Angelo State University, SR, Forward, Royston, Ga., Franklin County HSMayfield led the Rams last week by averaging 21.3 points per game while shooting 70 percent from the field, including scoring 23 points against Colorado Mesa and Western State Colorado during the weekend in Grand Junction, Colorado. Mayfield finished the weekend with 23 points and 11 rebounds against the Mountaineers for his second double-double of the season after scoring 23 points and grabbing eight rebounds against the Mavericks. He also scored 18 points last Tuesday in a 97-63 win over Oklahoma Wesleyan at the Junell Center. Mayfield is averaging 17.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game this season for the Rams and also has 19 assists.

MEN’S DEFENSIVEDarrell Williams, Texas A&M University - Commerce, SR, Forward, Chicago, Ill., Dunbar Vocational HSWilliams continues his dominate play inside for the Lions as A&M-Commerce knocked off back-to-back top 25 opponents with wins over Cal-Baptist and Dixie State. Williams sparked the week-opening win over Sul Ross State with 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor with 11 rebounds. He followed that performance with 17 points and 17 rebounds on the road at then ranked No. 11 Cal.-Baptist. A&M-Commerce had two players grab 15 plus rebounds in two separate games during the 2002-03 season, but Williams has now accomplished that feat alone after he had 15 rebounds at Ouachita Baptist back on November 20. In the final game of the week, Williams provided stellar rim-protecting defense and added 14 points and nine rebounds in the ten-point win over then ranked No. 17 Dixie State. For the weekend he averaged a double-double with 17.7 points per game and 12.3 rebounds per game. He is third in the league in scoring averaging 14.4 points per game and leads the league in rebounding at 10.9 -- the only LSC player averaging a double-double.

WOMEN’S OFFENSIVEKathy Thomas, Tarleton State University, SR, Guard, Flint, Mich., Flint Hamaday HSThomas put together the best two-game stretch of her Tarleton career last weekend to lead the TexAnns to a pair of wins over Lubbock Christian and Texas-Permian Basin. Thomas scored a career-high 25 points on 9-14 shooting and 7-7 from beyond the arc Friday night to pace the TexAnns to a 73-71 overtime win against Lubbock Christian, snapping the Lady Chaps 18-game home-winning streak – which entered the weekend as the third-longest home winning streak in NCAA Division II. She followed up that performance with 17 points, nine rebounds, two blocks and two steals to lift Tarleton State to a 65-61 win over Texas-Permian Basin, who entered the game undefeated. For the weekend, Thomas averaged 21.0 points per game with 42 total points to go along with a team-high 13 rebounds, a team-high two blocks, three assists and three steals. She shot .630 from the field on 17-27 shooting and .800 from beyond the arc on 8-10 shooting.

WOMEN’S DEFENSIVESasha Watson, West Texas A&M University, SO, Guard, Amarillo, Texas, Palo Duro HSWatson was named to the PAK-A-SAK All-Tournament Team and helped lead the Lady Buffs to a thrilling 67-65 win over No. 8 Harding Saturday and a 63-49 win over Truman State who was receiving votes. Watson went 11 of 19 from the field and had five assists along with nine steals (4.5 per game), including a career-high six steals against Truman State on Friday as the team tallied a season-high 16 steals. Watson was 6 of 10 from the line for the week and tallied four rebounds. She earned her first two starts of her career this weekend. Watson helped force 37 turnovers this weekend and her nine steals led the team who had 25 for the week (12.5 per game).

MEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS David Chavlovich, West Texas A&M University, led the charge for the Buffs offensively, helping extend the team’s win streak to three games as they went 2-1 in three games last week. He led the team in scoring in two of those games, including a career game in WT’s 81-80 win against Harding where he went off for 33 points, shooting 11-for-19 from the field and 6-for-12 from long range with five assists, four rebounds, and two steals. He was named to the All-Tournament Team at WT’s Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic. Between the three games, Chavlovich totaled 59 points, averaging 19.7 per contest, with nine rebounds, seven assists and two steals. He shot .476 from the field, .400 from beyond the arc, and .818 from the free-throw line.

Darrell Williams, Texas A&M University - Commerce, continues his dominate play inside for the Lions as A&M-Commerce knocked off back-to-back top 25 opponents with wins over Cal-Baptist and Dixie State. Williams sparked the week-opening win over Sul Ross State with 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor with 11 rebounds. He followed that performance with 17 points and 17 rebounds on the road at then ranked No. 11 Cal.-Baptist. John Gilliam, Eastern New Mexico University, came through for Eastern New Mexico in the clutch Saturday against Harding at the Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic, nailing a three-pointer from 30 feet out at the buzzer for a 76-73 Greyhound victory. He recorded his first career double-double in the win as well with 21 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. Gilliam has scored 20 points in two of his last three games. For the week he averaged a team-high 17.0 ppg and 7.5 rpg while adding 3.0 apg and making 12-of-16 shots at the free throw line. Mo Lee, Tarleton State University, was pivotal in lifting Tarleton State to a pair of wins over Pittsburg State and Northwestern Nazarene last weekend and helping the Texans improve to 5-0. Lee led the Texans in scoring, rebounding and assists over the last two games as the senior from The Bronx, New York paced Tarleton to its fifth 5-0 start to the season in the last 13 years. Lee scored 21 points in two games for a scoring average of 10.5 for the weekend. He also grabbed 12 total rebounds and dished out nine assists, including a career-high five against Northwestern Nazarene Saturday night. Over the last two games, Lee shot .583 from the field and was a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe en route to his team-leading scoring average. Lawrence Domingo, Eastern New Mexico University, held his own on the glass at the Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic as he averaged 7.5 a game. He tied his season-high in rebounds (8) and set a season-best in blocks (2) against Emporia State while scoring a team-high 17 points as he made all five of his free throw attempts. Against Harding, Domingo had seven rebounds, five offensive, and a block. He also scored 12 points with two three-pointers, too. For the week Domingo averaged 14.5 ppg and 1.5 bpg along with his rebounding mark. Carl White, West Texas A&M University, was a solid defensive presence for the Buffs in all three games last week, giving the Buffs two wins over Pittsburg State and Harding. White led the way with seven blocks on the week and added eight defensive rebounds and three steals. He also produced offensively, averaging 7 points per-game, shooting .467 from the field, .400 from beyond the arc, and .714 from the free-throw line.

WOMEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS Jazzmine Robinson, Cameron University, was named to the PAK-A-SAK WT Lady Buff Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team following a strong weekend where she averaged 24.5 points in two contests in Canyon. Robinson scored 18 points on Friday and shot 57.1 percent from the field in a stunning 76-70 upset against No. 8 Harding University; she also pitched in eight rebounds, and four assists. On Saturday, she shot a career high 31 points and went 11-19 from the field in a 80-75 close battle against Truman State. On Tuesday, against East Central she also had a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. In three games last week, Robinson shot 51.9 percent on the floor, and averaged 24 points, while netting 8.7 rebounds. Jasmine Caston, Angelo State University, averaged 22.5 points per game at the St. Mary’s Classic. She scored a season-high 26 points in a 72-64 win over Colorado State-Pueblo. Caston his 45-percent of her shots and made 80-percent from the free throw line over the weekend. She followed up her 26 point performance with a 19 points game against St. Mary’s. The sophomore is averaging 17.2 points per game this season. Lisa Hampton, Midwestern State University, averaged 17.5 points per game knocking down nine 3-pointers to lead Midwestern State to wins over Oklahoma Panhandle State and Ouachita Baptist. The senior from Kennedale poured in a career-high 20 points while shooting 8-of-14 from the field and 4-of-6 from the 3-point line in an 82-59 win over Ouachita Baptist after going for five triples and 15 points in a 92-76 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State earlier in the week. Hampton, who ranks second in the LSC 3.1 3-pointers game, has scored in double figures in each of her last four games while shooting 17-of-33 from the 3-point arc (.515). Chontiquah White, West Texas A&M University, named PAK-A-SAK Tournament MVP after scoring the game-winning bucket with five seconds left as WT downed No. 8 Harding 67-65 Saturday. White went 12 of 22 from the field for the tournament for a .545 clip and buried her first two career made triples against Truman State Friday who was receiving votes in the latest poll. White had eight rebounds along with one assist and two steals. Against No. 8 Harding, White went 8 of 13 from the field to lead the team with 19 points. Kenesha Saygo, Texas Woman’s University, came off the bench to lead the Pioneers to a 2-0 record with a team-best 14.5 points per game. She was clutch from the free-throw line in the final minutes in both victories. Saygo went 5-for-6 from the line in the final 48 seconds in a 70-65 win against Texas Wesleyan and then scored the team’s final eight points including 6-for-6 from the line in the final two minutes in a 64-55 win against East Central. She finished the week shooting 40 percent from the floor and 89.5 percent (17-for-19) from the line while handing out five assists. On the season Saygo leads the team in free-throw percentage (.833) and assists (17). Sarah Stinnett, Eastern New Mexico University, averaged a team-best 12 points against Fort Lewis, Texas-Permian Basin and Lubbock Christian. She poured in a season-best 17 points against Fort Lewis, to go along

Emily Spector, Texas Woman’s University, helped the Pioneers to a 2-0 record while holding the two opponents to just 33.3 percent shooting. She led the team with 17 rebounds and four blocks while finished second in scoring with 11.5 points per game. Spector recorded her first career double-double in a win against East Central with a career-high 17 points and career-high 11 rebounds. She also led the team with three blocks and three steals against the Tigers. Spector and the Pioneers’ defense held their last four opponents to under 30 percent shooting and single-digit field goals in the first half to post a 3-1 record. On the season Spector leads the team with 6.5 rebounds per game and second in scoring with 10.8 points per game. Shatoia Gober, Midwestern State University, contributed on both ends of the floor while helping Midwestern State to a pair of wins over Oklahoma Panhandle State and Ouachita Baptist. The senior from Waco matched a career-high with 18 points to go along with seven rebounds, two blocked shots and four steals on Sunday after going for 12 points earlier in the week against OPSU. Gober averaged 15 points and 4.5 rebounds a game for the week to go with her two blocks and four steals as the Mustangs limited the opposition to a .395 shooting percentage. Kathy Thomas, Tarleton State University, put together the best two-game stretch of her Tarleton career last weekend to lead the TexAnns to a pair of wins over Lubbock Christian and Texas-Permian Basin. Artaejah Gay, Texas A&M University - Commerce, provided the Lions with a stabilizing bench presence this week, supplying rebounding and blocks when needed. In the loss to A&M-International, she was second in scoring while leading the Lions in rebounding with seven. Gay also worked wonders from the free throw line, as she went a perfect 6 for 6. Jasmine Johnson, Eastern New Mexico University, averaged 6.3 rebounds and 1.7 steals against tough opposition from #7 Texas-Permian Basin, Lubbock Christian and Fort Lewis College. Her performance helped the Zias to out rebound UTPB and stay within five points until less than a minute remained. She finished with 11 points, four steals and seven rebounds against Fort Lewis.

while dropping their first game of the season in a 70-67 game against Colorado Mesa. ASU returns to action at 6 p.m. tonight at Western New Mexico before returning to San Angelo where it will host Texas-Permian Basin on Saturday at the Junell Center.

Eastern New Mexico Eastern New Mexico went 1-1 at the Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic hosted by West Texas A&M. They fell to Emporia State on Friday 74-63 but followed with a 76-73 win over Harding Saturday afternoon. John Gilliam hit the game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer from 30 feet out against the Bison. He also recorded his first double-double in a Greyhound uniform with 21 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. Lawrence Domingo led the squad with 17 points and eight rebounds on Friday. Chris Wyms dished out a career-best six assists versus HU, the most by an Eastern player this season. Along with his assist total, he also led the squad with four steals as he had two each in both contests. This week ENMU plays their first game at home against Texas-Permian Basin on Tuesday and travel to take on Northern New Mexico on Friday. The Greyhounds are the only team in the LSC to have not yet played a game at home this season.

Midwestern State Midwestern State dropped a pair of games at the St. Mary’s Thanksgiving Classic in San Antonio falling to Missouri Southern (77-71) and St. Mary’s (63-50)… The Mustangs dipped to 4-3 on the season… Senior forward Abiodun Adegoke erupted for a career-high 18 points converting 7-of-8 shots to go along with a season-high nine rebounds Saturday against Missouri Southern… Redshirt-freshman guard Devante Pullum averaged 12.5 points per game at the St. Mary’s Thanksgiving Classic coming on early Saturday for junior guard Bretson McNeal, who left with a leg injury in the opening minute against Missouri Southern… Pullum knocked down two 3-pointers on his way to 14 points against Missouri Southern, then finished with 11 points in his first collegiate start Sunday against St. Mary’s (Texas)… Senior forward Xavier Blackburn notched a season-best 16 points to go along with three rebounds and five steals Sunday against St. Mary’s… Blackburn has scored in double figures in each of his last three games… Senior guard Derrell Gibbs buried a season-best three 3-pointers to finish with nine points Saturday against Missouri Southern…

Tarleton State Tarleton State remained the Lone Star Conference’s only undefeated team with a pair of wins over Pittsburg State and Northwestern Nazarene last weekend. The Texans have started 5-0 for the fifth time in the last 13 seasons and will play Arlington Baptist Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. and St. Mary’s Saturday at 7 p.m. Both games will be played at Wisdom Gym in Stephenville.

Texas A&M-Commerce The Lions are coming off of back-to-back wins over top 25 opponents with a 68-67 win over No. 11 Cal.-Baptist and a 74-64 win over No. 17 Dixie State in the CBU Thanksgiving Classic... Darrell Williams has grabbed 15 plus rebounds in two games this season -- 15 at Ouachita Baptist and 17 vs. Cal. Baptist ... Since 2002-03 the Lions have not had a player record 15

plus rebounds in two games... Prior to the Lions won 100-75 over Sul Ross State in their home opener ... The Lions hit the century mark in consecutive games for the first time since the 2006-07 season when A&M-Commerce scored in triple figures three times.

Texas A&M-Kingsville The Javelinas went 1-2 in three games last week, defeating Northwest Nazarene in the Tarleton State Thanksgiving Classic... the Hogs nearly came from behind to defeat #25 Our Lady of the Lake on Tuesday after trailing by as much as 25... Jamar Goodwin and DJ Weathers posted double figures in all three games... the Javelinas take on St. Mary’s and Texas A&M International this week.

West Texas A&M The Buffs started off the week with two wins to extend their win streak to three games. It began with a 72-63 victory over Pittsburg State before defeating Harding 81-80, thanks to a 3-point bucket by Miles Gatewood with only three seconds remaining. WT was led in that game by freshman guard David Chavlovich who tallied 33 points and was named to the WT Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team. In their third game, the Buffs dropped a close contest to Emporia State to close out the tournament, 68-63. The Buffs now stand with a 3-4 overall record and will return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 3 as they host Lubbock Christian at the First United Bank Center in Canyon at 7:30 p.m.

Eastern New Mexico The Zias opened the week by nearly claiming victory from Fort Lewis after facing a 10-point deficit with less than 10 minutes to play, then stayed within striking distance of seventh-ranked Texas-Permian Basin for more than 39 minutes, before falling to the then-undefeated Falcons. The week concluded with a setback to Lubbock Christian. Sarah Stinnett paced ENMU with 12 points per game, while Jasmine Johnson averaged nine points, 1.7 steals and 6.3 rebounds per game. This week, Eastern will play exhibition games at University of Texas-El Paso and New Mexico State.

Midwestern State Midwestern State rolled to its fifth straight win taking an 82-59 decision over Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) Sunday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum… The five-game winning streak is the longest for MSU since the Mustangs won six straight from Nov. 26, 2013 to Jan. 2, 2014 last season… Four of MSU’s five wins during its current winning streak have been by 10-or-more points…The Mustangs’ average margin over victory during the winning streak is 14.6 points per game… Senior guard Lisa Hampton poured in a career-high 20 points going 8-for-14 from the field including four 3-pointers in Sunday’s win over Ouachita Baptist… Hampton ranks second in the LSC in 3-point field goals made per game (3.1) and is fourth in 3-point field goal percentage (.468)… Hampton has knocked down 17 triples in her last four games in 33 attempts for a .515 percentage… Hampton is averaging 16.3 pointers per

She added two blocks and four steals… Senior forward Andrea Carter notched her fifth straight game with 10-or-more points finishing with 14 points and six rebounds in just 21 minutes in Sunday afternoon’s win over Ouachita Baptist… Carter continues to lead the LSC in rebounding at 11.7 per game… With six rebounds Sunday against Ouachita Baptist, Carter moved past Lounette Adkins (839 rebounds from 1978-79, 80-81, 93-95) and into third place on MSU’s all-time rebounds list with 841… Senior guard Dianna Jones fought off foul trouble to notch her sixth straight game in double figures finishing with 12 points in 17 minutes Sunday against Ouachita Baptist…

Tarleton State Tarleton State pushed its winning streak to three in a row last weekend with a pair of wins over Lubbock Christian and Texas-Permian Basin. The win over LCU snapped the Lady Chaps’ 18-game home winning streak while the win over UTPB was the first loss for the Falcons this season. Kathy Thomas poured in 42 points in the last two games. Thomas and the TexAnns return to action Tuesday night against Arlington Baptist at 5:30 p.m.

Texas A&M-Kingsville Texas A&M University-Kingsville fell to 0-5 on the year, falling to No. 25 St. Mary’s, Henderson State and Southeastern Oklahoma State... the Hogs gave the ranked Rattlers and undefeated SE a scare as the Javelinas took a late lead in the second half before faltering late... Micah Weaver reached double figures in all three games.

Texas Woman’s The TWU basketball team improved its record to 4-2 on the season with two wins last week. The Pioneers defeated Texas Wesleyan, 70-65, on Tuesday, Nov. 25 before knocking off previously undefeated East Central, 64-55, on Saturday, Nov. 29. Sophomore Kenesha Saygo came off the bench to lead the team on offense with 14.5 points per game while sophomore Emily Spector was the leader on defense with 17 rebounds and four blocks. Spector also scored 11.5 points per game on offense. Senior Ashley Salazar averaged 9.5 points while shooting 60 percent from the floor and sophomore Erin Maxwell came off the bench to add 7.0 ppg while shooting 77.8 percent. The Pioneers held their last five opponents to under 40 percent shooting to post a 4-1 record. TWU also outrebounded four of their last five opponents. The Pioneers will return to action with two South Central Region games against Lubbock Christian on Wednesday, Dec. 3 and UT-Permian Basin on Saturday, Dec. 6.

West Texas A&M The No. 8 Lady Buffs won their first two home games of the season this weekend with a 63-49 win over Truman State who was receiving votes and a thrilling

67-65 victory over No. 8 Harding in the PAK-A-SAK Thanksgiving Classic...WT improved to 4-1 on the year with the wins...WT senior Chontiquah White was named Tournament MVP as she scored the game-winner with five seconds left against Harding and tallied 19 points in the game...Sophomore Sasha Watson also earned all-tournament honors averaging 14 points on 11 of 19 from the field and 6 of 10 from the line...She had a team-high nine steals and a career-high six against Truman State...WT shot .459 from the field and .407 from beyond the arc with 11 made triples. The team was 19 of 28 from the line and averaged 65 points in the two games...Conversely, WT held the opposition to .381 from the field, .371 from beyond the arc and .659 from the line...The Lady Buffs allowed just 57 points in the two games...White led the team averaging 15.0 points for the week on 12 of 22...She made her first two career triples against Truman State including the opening bucket of the game...Senior Ariel Robertson led the team averaging 7.5 rebounds per game and had 10 against Harding on Saturday along wit four steals...WT continues its homestand this week with Oklahoma Panhandle State and Oklahoma Christian on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively...The Lady Buffs host Texas A&M-International Dec. 14, prior to closing 2014 at the South Point Holiday Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada, against Western Washington and Northwest Nazarene (Idaho) Dec. 18-19.
