HOW THE SAINTSTRIUMPHED OVERTHE 49ERS
BALANCEBy maintaining an upbeat offense that keeps defenses on their toes, the
Saints were able to gain the upper-hand in Sunday's win. In fact, they
posted an impressive 42-39 run-pass split against the 49ers, thus all but
ensuring they were attacking not just on the ground, but in the air as
well.
2-MAN RUSHINGThe combined efforts of Tim Hightower,
Mark Ingram, and the offense yielded a
fantastic 245 rushing yards and two
rushing touchdowns.
Hightower spearheaded the way with 23
carries for 87 yards and trip to the end
zone.
Mark Ingram supplemented Hightower's
impressive performance with his own,
clocking in at 15 carries for 75 yards, 158
yards total on the ground.
AIR-RAIDDrew Brees made particular mention of how the running game, although very
successful in its own right, also was a phenomenal complement to the pass game.
Brees threw for 323 yards and three touchdowns to ten different receivers. Ultimately,
he went for 28 of 39.
Coming off four wins in five
games, the Saints are poised to
make a splash this season.
