In 1744 the London Cricket Club produced what are recognizably the rules of

modern cricket

• First official international match: Canada v United States, at New York, September 24-25, 1844

• The first ever test match was held between England and Australia, at Melbourne, from the 15th to the 19th of March, 1877

• There are currently 96 cricket playing nations in the world
